We been there twice and were very satisfied and enjoyed our dinner. The owner couple was so friendly and he invite me to visit his kitchen to see how his chef cooked the fish.

Let me state at the outset that this my only experience of eating at a sidreria (cider house) so this is not a comparative review. What is indeed certain is that this was one of the best meals I have had during my substantial travels all over the world. Food was very abundant and freshly prepared. Quality of the T-bone second to none - had not had something similar since my last visit to South America. Unlimited cider was a novelty, even more so the manner in which one fills the glass!!!!!!!!!! We opted for the set menu which at 30Euros each (including unlimited wine and drinks) was extremely fair value. Another novelty was eating without any plates!!!!! Place is very clean and service was excellent.One of the reasons why I will definitely return to visit the area.

We wanted to visit Michelin restaurants in San Sebastian. However, most of them were closed in January and Monday/Tuesday. Hotel recommended this restaurant for dinner.It is not close to city centre and the taxi ride is about EUR10 from old town. Items in menu are simple. Seafood and beef are their specialties.We ordered scrambled eggs and fish soup as starters. Both were very good. We had grilled fish and grilled beef steak as main with side dishes and they were excellent too. However, their portions are quite big for us. Its a pity that we were not able to finish all. Dishes were not fancy but they are real good food.I must mention the excellent service of the staff. Imagine the restaurant is 80% filled on a Tuesday evening and there were only 3 staff running around. They were enthusiastic, attentive and efficient.

A group of us had a selection of starters, tuna, mushrooms and octopus. The tuna was cubed and seared, served as a pile with onions and tomato. Fresh and good. The mushrooms were pretty but tasted ok. The octopus was not tender, tough to cut but flavoursome. Then followed a great dish of squid in caramelised onion. Wholesome and tasty but again lacked the âje ne sais quoiâ. Some had the cod throat in basque gelatinous sauce which was pronounced very good. That dish is a matter of personal taste. Service varied, mostly staff seemed grim. Smiles dont cost much, who knows...Thank you for your opinion.
