Open Table

Someone recommended another restaurant in town but this place looked nice and had good reviews. Arrived on a Monday evening. After sitting for ten minutes had to go to ask staff for a menu. Eventually someone took our order. She was nice and polite. And then after 48 minutes of waiting I had to call her and ask her what was going on. The food arrived out almost immediately after the this. She apologized and said it was busy. It wasn't that busy as we had a choice of 4 tables at least to sit at. We had ordered childrens chicken goujons and chips and fish fingers and mash and also a meal for myself. The mash was inedible and the portion of chips way too small. The food was less than average. I can't understand how they couldn't cater for the amount of people seated. And even if it was slow no one came near our table to offer an explanation or to refill drinks. We left the place hungry and annoyed. Totally unacceptable. Would never return and would never recommend to anyone.

We ventured into town as we are staying ten minutes away for a wedding and have travelled from Manchester. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit tonight. We had three beautiful home cooked courses, my partner said the chicken wings were better than Nando’s). The staff couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel very comfortable and at home. Definitely recommend this lovely little place!Thank you very much for your recommendation, especially the praise for our wings. Nando's will hopefully come to try out our wings .Have a great time at the wedding and we look forward to seeing you the next time you visit Boyle. Jim and all the Staff.

An Craoibhin

As a result of some unexpected circumstances myself and my wife ended up in Boyle on Friday night. Tired, hungry and not knowing of anywhere to go we stumbled upon An Craoibhin. We can't wait till the next time I am in Boyle and we will definitely return. A lovely, small candlelit venue, serving what I can best describe as really good, honest Irish food at exceptionally good prices with equally good portion sizes. Everything is cooked fresh and served by friendly smiling people.

The quality of the food, lovely staff, and location, more than make up for the layout and decor. French onion soup, prawns tempura, braised beef, and desserts (pear and almond tart, and, creme brulee) all top class, and cooked and presented by an obviously skilled chef. The staff were very friendly and professional. The desserts were very overpriced, but otherwise an excellent meal.
