Visited Boyle in June this year. Popped in to get out of the rain and was happily surprised at the choice of menu and the quality of the food. As we were not really hungry we opted mainly for sandwiches but there were a lovely taste and standard also the soup was quality. Some of the desserts looked heavenly but unfortunately not hungry enough to sample. Next time we are in Boyle we will revisit and this time ensure we are hungry enough to sample a lot more of the menu.

Warm friendly welcome to a clean inviting bar/dining area.
Waitress was very pleasant and helpful.
Four main courses. Battered cod and chips (2)with feather-light crispy batter and home-made tartar sauce. All mouthwatering. Gourmet chicken fillet burger with goats cheese and salad on a brioche type roll was truly exceptional. Prawn and Salmon salad served as a main with crushed floury potatoes and a side of root vegetables cooked to perfection.
Service was fast and friendly.
Very good value for money.
Overall a wonderful dining experience. I've eaten here before on a few occasions and I find that it's consistently good. 10/10 so far

The Moorings

Reviewed By MrsWoman94 - Dublin, Ireland

We chose The Moorings to enjoy a meal on our last night of our week's stay in the area after it was recommended to us by lots of locals. We were greeted on the wet and miserable Friday evening with a blazing fire and a genuinely warm and friendly welcome from, I assume, Patrick. A lesiurely drink was enjoyed at the bar whilst we perused the menu accompanied by friendly banter with the owners. The menu, whilst not huge, has some really interesting choices and made picking something quite a challenge. I was feeling adventurous (fish is normally my thing) and opted for the duck whilst my other half went for the steak. We enjoyed relaxing over a bottle of wine in the conservatory whilst our food was prepared. Well what can I say except ..... fabulous in every way. My duck was divine - crispy skin with beautifully moist meat, creamy champ potatoes, tender vegetables and a wonderful rich cranberry and cointreau sauce. Absolutely gorgeous. Now to the steak - melt in the mouth, perfectly cooked and accompanied by sauteed onion and mushroom and chips - proper hand cut chunky chips which were fantastic (we were even given an extra bowl as himself had asked for no salad!).
I really cannot fault this restaurant or our hosts. They have achieved a perfect blend of attentiveness without being intrusive and the attention to detail was spot on. The little extra things like the beautiful wine and brandy glasses, flowers on the tables etc. make a big difference. We had heard that the owners are moving premises to Cootehall next year and we will be making a date in our diary to visit the "The Buoys" when it opens and wish you both every success!
Five stars all the way for this restaurant and thank you for making our last evening so special and enjoyable.

If you're visiting Boyle and fancy Asian food, I recommend Tai Chi Court, newly decorated I believe, clean and with lovely views over the Boyle River. Service is good, the menu extensive. A group of shared several dishes and all were good.

First time stopping off in Boyle and went here at around 11am. It was pretty quite when we arrived but got busier before we finished our meal. Lovely breakfast and toasted sandwiches. Could not fault here. It was very clean, tastily done up for Valentines and the homemade desserts on display looks amazing. We will definitely return.

It was a cold dreary day. At first we tried to order the Shepherd's Pie, but the waitress said it sell out early every day. The chicken pie must sell out next! Hearty, hot and delicious food. Friendly faces serve and sit next to you.

The Stone House Cafe

A nice little tranquil café in Boyle centre, by the foot of the the town bridge. Unfortunately like so many other places in Ireland the outside promises what the inside don't deliver. Food is standard and for what you get expensive. Unfortunately the beautiful promise is a letdown.

The first time I went in here it was just ok so I persisted as I like the farm to fork idea and so wanted to have a great experience. I do not eat beef so my concentration was on the salad and I told them this but what I was served for the price was far from satisfactory. I mean how much does a bag of salad cost? I did try to explain but the staff were totally inflexible. It was a matter of take it or leave it so I paid and left hungry and disappointed. I am now pretty sure that I never want to go back. Customers who try to give feed back should be listened to.

Found this place still serving at a little later time normal so we stopped in. The decor was not newer but it was nice. Food was good but not great and service was friendly and good.
