Nice Apartment with Great View

Reviewed By lolabana

We booked the 2 bedroom penthouse apartment. There was lots of space and the apartment included everything that we needed. There is a lovely sea view from the living room and one of the bedrooms. Check in was easy and they sent a text with car park instructions before hand so it was easy to find. The parking spaces are a tight fit though. Reception was very friendly both at check-in and check-out. There was many restaurants and pubs on the same street as well as a nice promenade walk along the sea directly outside. I highly recommend this apartment.

Central Location, but quiet

Reviewed By Jeffrey L

We were in Unit 9. It was in a lovely sunny corner of the building with views looking across the town and over the water of Galway Bay. Everything was quite clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessary utensils. The clothes washer/dryer was very handy. They provided soap pods. When we used those, they provided more. We used their secure parking spot. (Street Parking is a challenge in this part of town.) Given that this condo is part of a local hotel, there was always someone at reception to manage any question or issue. That included check-in and check-out which was a breeze. The condo location is close to Eyre Square, but far enough away from the late night party scene in the older part of town. I would definitely stay in this location if visiting Galway again. The only remark I would have is that the mattress on the bed could have been more firm (for my tastes), but it was typical of a mattress in such a lodging.

Good Value, Perfect Location

Reviewed By PamHJ

We stayed for 10 days and were very happy with our apartment. It was comfortable and adequately equipped. Given the location and amenities, I’d say it’s an excellent value. The kitchen is sparsely equipped if you wish to cook (e.g. no knives for chopping, slicing, etc). Eyre Square and the shopping district are an easy walk from the apartment. Groceries are available close by at both M&S and Dunnes. The train and bus terminals are maybe a 5 minute walk. Having the resources of the Western Hotel is a definite advantage. We would stay here again.

Only seems good

Reviewed By 184aidanw

There's a 200 odd quid deposit that they don't tell you about until your at the front desk, which is a disgrace as they hold your room for ransom at the last minute rather than tell you through the booking process. The staff, the very few I seen looked to be miserable in their jobs. The bullying security staff are a joke at the bar, the apartments, the disco downstairs. Would not visit again and when I contacted courtyard apartments to explain... They did not seem to care. Take your money elsewhere

The Village B&B

2 cozy bright and warm studio apartments. Self catering or traditional family B&B on 1.4 acres of gardens in our lovely village of Mount Temple. We are located just off the Old Rail Trail Greenway, 4km from Moate, 11km from Athlone, just off the M7. Both apartments have a unique eclectic and rustic charm with lots of personal touches. It is NOT a new Ikea clad space. The loft apartment has a very comfortable 5ft bed and also a camp bed for 1 more. The kitchen is fully kitted out for self catering with a fridge, hob, an oven and a washing machine. The downstairs studio is open plan and colorful with one very comfortable double bed. The kitchenette contains a fridge, hob, an oven. Cooking condiments are provided from olive oil, herbs and a wide range of teas and coffee. Toiletries, hair dryers, irons and towels are also provided. There is WiFi but NO TV. We have 2 lovely dogs and are pet welcoming. We have bikes to use with a little notice for the gorgeous greenway cycle path.

Disappointing & Dreadful experience

Reviewed By BeatsnEats

I booked a 5 night stay for a little break with my son but left after 2 nights as the place was disgraceful. The shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold and the owner acted surprised when I told her but having read the other reviews here, one being from 2016 saying the same thing, I can see that she is well aware of the issue and has chosen not to fix it. The shower head is also broken (see picture attached). I could not shower my baby which is unacceptable. The room itself smelled of dog and everything felt itchy and hairy. The website says it's 5 minutes walk to the village but this is very misleading as the village is merely one small shop with no fresh food and there's no cafe or pub or anything! When I pointed this out to the owner she rudely said well, I consider it a village, again I find this unacceptable. There is only one radiator in the room and the tempature seemed to fluctuate on it's own accord so the room was either too hot or really cold and the whole place felt very dark and grim. It is musty and old and you can hear every noise from the upstairs apartment which I see other people have also commented on. I I found Gail the owner very rude and defensive when addressed with these issues. I tried to be considerate but the entire experience was very upsetting, especially with a young child. I would absolutely steer clear and not recommened this place to anyone. Horrible experience.

Basic but good value

Reviewed By Millie1524

Very nice staff at Reception. We travelled with three teens. It was nice to have an apartment with ensuite bathrooms. The accommodation is basic student accommodation so there is no luxury here. However, we had plenty of space within the apartment. It's about a half hour walk into the city centre and there isn't much in the immediate vicinity so it's a bit short on atmosphere. However, it's great value for a family stay. There is a playground on the campus which would be good for younger children.
