This rural town of 10,000 population is just not your typical destination for business travelers or vacationers. Accordingly, the scale of measure needs adjustment into more intangibles, such as "super-friendly owners" in addition to the basics of location, cleanliness, safety and value. So, if you're expecting the Presidential Suite, you'll not find one in Oskaloosa. But if you need a quiet, safe, clean and affordable room for the night, check out the America's Best Value in Oskaloosa.

The Most Disgusting Room I’ve Ever Had The Misfortune To Enter
Reviewed By msryan2uI read the mostly negative reviews about this motel, but thought I’d be one of the lucky reasonable reviews because of the good price. I should have known better. It was filthy (noted in other reviews), stank (noted in other reviews), and had bugs, spiders came out of a pillow case (other reviews noted bed bugs). We went into the room noting the smell and stains on the floor. Decided to chance it because we left to attend an event in VERY hot and humid event that day. It did have air conditioning. On returning we discovered there was not enough water pressure to and the spiders in the bed. Stripped the bedcovers, found the stained mattress. Decided to leave and went to the front desk. I was refused a refund and offered another room. I declined because previous trip advisor negative reviews said it wouldn’t get any better. I’m out $55 dollars, but I have no bites and brought no bugs home. DO NOT GO TO THIS DISGUSTING HOLE!!! Trip Advisor staff there is one of your stickers on their door from 2011. I believe it was chain motel at the time. I’d demand them to to move it.

Horrible Stay
Reviewed By christypF599ISThe place is ran so poorly from the owner to his front desk employees. We arrived at 9 pm after driving all day. The front desk lady was standing there and all you can smell is Marijuana. We asked what was up she said we think room 214 is smoking. Okay call the cops last I remembered you could not smoke pot in Iowa. We got to our room and the person next to us was playing music. After two hours called the front desk and asked the lady to say something. At this point it was 11pm it continued until midnight. In the morning checking out the Owner and new front desk man listened to my concerns only to make excuses. They were not sorry for anything, we paid $77 to smell pot, listen to music, when all we wanted was a relaxing night of rest. Called the Oskaloosa Police Dept and was instructed to call the cops next time on the illegal substance that filled the motel. The owner only cares about money not having returning guests.

Good clean hotel, crass service
Reviewed By 618chandrapStayed here while traveling through Iowa. Front desk clerk was less than friendly at 1 am and after a long day of traveling could have done without the bad attitude. We are platinum elite Bonvoy members and were not offered any of the usual check in perks. The overall facility was clean and new and the rooms were nice. Aside from the service, Fairfield lived up to its usual billing.

Wonderful hotel
Reviewed By Shelley BI was a bit sceptical when I arrived here because is was very small, but that quickly changed. The hotel's owner came out to greet us and she could not of been more helpful. When she learned that I was handicapped and needed a shower chair and she didn't have one, she borrowed one from a friend. She gave us great suggestions for dinner, breakfast, and bakery items. The room was clean and comfortable with nice beds and pillows. The price was great. I will happily stay here again.
