Dinner options in Ales on a Sunday are limited at best, but you can definitely do worse than the Hippopotamus. Centrally located on Place Henri Barbusse, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We weren't pressured to make decisions quickly, but never had to wait around to be served either. My eggs in a red wine sauce starter was certainly a novelty, but my burger and Gin Fizz cocktail were well executed classics.

This was really a nice surprise to find such a good restaurant in Alès. The owner is also the chef who has a long career as well as on cooking fishes and meats. The environment is not very beautiful but you go there to eat... his wife serve to tables with a big smiling and warm attitude. A place to go.

We were glad that we stumbled upon Le Bogarts when we were walking around the town and decided to have dinner here. We enjoyed our dinner very much. We will be back for sure if we ever come to Ales again.I love lasagna, and the super tasty huge portion Lasagna Bolognese with Aubergine was the best lasagna I have ever eaten. It was perfectly well-seasoned and well-cooked. The pizza was excellent as well. The garlic spicy oil was great compliment to the pizza if you like it a little bit spicy.The staff were super friendly and the price was very reasonable.Thank you for making our first meal in a restaurant after arriving in France a remarkable one.Highly recommended restaurant in Ales for a great meal.
