Over priced, taste of the food was sub-par, not much food even for sushi. I was starving and this place was recommended to me by a hotel staff member and unfortunately, WOW was I disappointed.

Wife and I both got a bowl and shared a roll.Me, teriyaki chicken. Her, shrimp. Both shared spicy tuna roll.Food was so-so, rice slightly under cooked and few crunchy grains.Spicy tuna roll were mediocre, Sriracha sauce drizzled over, ruining tuna flavor. The place could use thorough cleaning. Everything you touch were sticky.Noticed it first when we entered when I touched the top of divider wall. Again, when I used their rest room, the door and handles were sticky.Needless to say, sanitary wipes are HIGHLY recommended. We will NOT go back there again.

Mess Hall Cutie and I had Sunday Brunch Buffet at this well established and popular restaurant. Sundays are busy but had no trouble getting seated immediately. Sundays there is an expanded buffet. More seafood to include their famous "Bang Bang Shrimp", fried Flounder and other semi-spicy delights. There is a hibachi line where you take a plate, pick your fresh meats and veggies and have the chef prepare everything on the hibachi flat top grill. Meat choices are shrimp, fish, chicken with a variety of vegetables. Choice of rice or noodles at the grill. Food is good and hot with a staff attending the buffet line keeping it clean and food replenished. Desert options are better on weekends compared with weekdays. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Sunday buffet $10.99. This Mess Hall Couple has eaten there several times over the years and will continue to visit with the troops. Mess Hall Review

Yakitori House Restaurant

My husband and I discovered this little shop one Easter a few years back and it’s been one of my favorite local diners ever since! There have been a few changes over the years, but it’s mostly good! (My favorite meal is no longer on the menu, but there’s still plenty to choose from.)More importantly, the staff and people who own the place. They are AMAZING. So down to Earth and so kind. Today, I stopped by to get a quick lunch after work and a woman there (judging by her interactions with the staff, she owned or was related to the owners here) sat and talked to me while I waited. She taught me a little Japanese (and was so graceful when I was terrible) and we just made small talk. It’s interactions like this that really make me love Yakitori House.(And they found potato’s that this picky eater liked! I know they aren’t on the menu, but the staff should really consider it!)

Popped in for a late lunch during the holiday week. Just a few others dining. Service was excellent. Asian Draft beer super cold and interesting wine/cocktail list. Our food was tasty, well prepared with lots of vegetables and fresh flavors. The decor of this place is unreal. Will be back soon...

Sake Asian Fusion

Reviewed By Mauna2011

We had planned for Prime rib dinner for Christmas and realized we had forgotten to get horseradish! So we tried the few open stores on Christmas to no avail, and saw Sake Asian Fusion was open behind the Hooters. Figured wasabi was Japanese horseradish, so we stopped in to try to buy some. The place was full of patrons and the very nice waitress heard our request and got us some wasabi in a take out container and gave it to us. We offered to pay her, but she refused. The next day, we were out doing errands and decided to stop in for sushi and we were not disappointed. The Japanese Nachos were a surprise, tasty and spicy. The BMW roll and the Sweetheart rolls were really good too, fresh and the spicy sauce just enough kick. The Dragon roll and the Gorilla rolls were a little spicy for my tastes, but my nephew-in-law and niece enjoyed it. We had twin toddlers who were entertained with he lollipops and one even adventured into the BMW roll and ate the whole thing. We discovered a pocket of wasabi before she ate that too, but not a drop of the BMW piece was left on her plate! Overall, good meal for 3 adults, twin toddlers and a 10 year old! We had great sushi while they were stationed in Okinawa, and this measured up as a good second!

We have not tried their sushi...we go for their hibachi lunch. Marine vet turned chef, Michael cooked for us, and James was our server. Excellent! Love the ginger salad dressing, and the jumbo shrimp are outstanding. Lunch is a little slow if you have to get back to work, but the food and service are quite good.

Of the competition, this place blows them away! Immediately we were greeted and it felt like we were all related, but not in an awkward way. The servers were genuine and truly wanted to give us a great experience. The hibachi cook was truly awesome to us. He was funny yet professional which is unlike anything we've seen at the other place. The prices were on par with the experience. A family of 5 for 80 bucks isn't bad. I had the Orion beer so that took a chunk by itself. That was a treat all in itself. Portion size and rice are the only things that moved this review to a 4. Although we all had leftovers, the portions are a bit smaller than the competitor. Other than this, it is as a memorable experience and we shall return.

I have no idea why this place is #2 in Jacksonville. Service was slow and the sushi was average at best. It might be the only place to get sushi in Jacksonville though.
