January 23, 2020 Lean Nau

Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Byron Bay. Byron Bay's beaches are dotted with lighthouses and surrounded by bottlenose dolphins, rays, whales and sea turtles. This former New South Wales whaling station turned tourist town is still strongly influenced by its recent bohemian past, when hippie lifestyles flourished. Bongos and didgeridoos sound in parks, sarongs and dreadlocks are common, and vegetarian restaurants abound. Give in to the casual vibe and stroll between beaches and bars for a low-key and happy day.

We were so pleasantly surprised by the fantastic service. The menu is great (recommend the banana bread, and the haloumi & asparagus), but the service was top-notch. So friendly, so attentive. It is also dog-friendly which is a breath of fresh air in the dog-hating world of Australian hospitality.

Being local and eaten just about everywhere in town, I decided after a swim to walk down from the SLSC and have breakfast here.I ordered the Cairo eggs and a pot of tea. No English breakfast tea so they substituted with a coffee and it was an excellent coffee. The Cairo eggs were delicious and I have promised myself to return and have them again.I would normally give it a 4 out of 5 but we got some negative vibes from the waitress. Otherwise the food was great.

We had breakfast here yesterday morning and we were all thoroughly impressed with the variety, quality and presentation of the food. Value was quite reasonable. Service was quick and friendly. Loved it. The Banana Bread was an absolute highlight. More like Banana Sponge - it was light and not too sweet. The Spiced Ricotta was a magnificent accompaniment and the staff were kind enough to give me an extra little bowl. The others had scrambled egg and said that it was delicious although it looked a LITTLE chunky to me, rather than creamy. To make creamy, perfect scrambled eggs is a much slower process than most busy cafes have time for so I never begrudge it. But I'm always super impressed when its creamy. The coffee served here was also a definite highlight. Excellent. We will visit again. I promise!

Beach Byron Bay

Beach Byron Bay celebrates and showcases the best of beach dining with a passion for great food, seasonality and a relaxed atmosphere. Beach, it’s what makes us unique.

Who doesn’t love The Beach? And Beach Byron Bay is no exception. Hands down this is one of my faves when in Byron so we’ve been many times, never to be disappointed. Beach Byron Bay is a sleek little hideaway venue, so inviting by both day and night. Oozing elegance and style, as you walk in you’re greeted with professional staff and a stunning view without an ounce of pretentiousness. The crisp whites in the decor mean its bright by day and elegant by night. It’s rare that a crossover is done so well but here it definitely is. Every ounce of this relatively small space is utilised, without feeling crowded or forced. The simplicity and efficiency at Beach Byron Bay is exactly what gives it that calm aurora of breakfast, an afternoon or an evening at the beach.Dining at family hour means you often see restaurants scramble to set up for the night, it also means you’re often left to your own devices until they are ‘ready’. Not here. Usually first to arrive we are always greeted without waiting, taken to our table (always outside, if you’ve never been you simply have to sit outside, the view is breathtaking!). I’ve seen the staff meeting happening behind the bar, everyone patiently waits for our drink order and the bar man makes the drinks while the rest of the team are briefed on specials in hush calming tones. Once our drinks are made and delivered by our waiter who pauses the meeting momentarily, the barman is briefed on what he’s missed and once the waiter rejoins, they conclude the final notes of their meeting while we persuade our menus. It’s a simple thing that needs to happen in any restaurant, the staff need to get together to all be on the same page, it’s important, but just how well this team executes this task around their first customers shows just how good a team they are. We aren’t made to feel bad for interrupting their meeting, they don’t seem rushed by it or us, it just is. While this may not be a part of everyone’s dining experience, if you are at a restaurant early and you are around this set up time, you’ll notice the tone of service just by observing this small part. We’ve seen it a few times at Beach Byron Bay and it’s always an indicator of the seamless service. But enough about that, those drinks! Beach Byron Bay is an example of the simplicity of well executed cocktails. Their drinks list isn’t perhaps as adventurous as some of the other bars in Byron Bay but it’s as clean and classy as their decor. Whatever drink we ordered it was done well, with good spirits and mixed in the right proportions and served with simple yet elegant garnish. The wine is served and poured appropriately, it’s simple but it’s always exactly as it should be. Why this works here where in other restaurants you’d want more shall we call it ‘fluff’ is because that’s what Beach Byron Bay is, the simplistic elegance of being in a great dining experience. The decor is stylish but not too much, the service is exactly what it should be without being intrusive, the drinks are served to accompany not to overwhelm, and therefore the food must also match.....and it does! The modern Australian flavours at Beach Byron Bay are exactly what they should be. With a focus on luscious produce, this not only thrives in a town like Byron Bay but is perfectly on theme for this restaurant. The individual elements of each dish are celebrated as oppose to being overwhelmed. The menu is adventurous in its essence, but not a circus of trying too hard to be filled with complicated dishes. Presentation is on point also, so from ordering to receiving your expectations are met and satisfied. Rather than messing with adding a plethora of unnecessary ingredients to already well seasoned dishes, Beach Byron Bay introduces quite an extensive list of specials each night built around the latest available fresh produce. I know sometimes there is a reluctance to order specials as you don’t know if the chef is testing and the dish won’t be quite right, but do it, these guys know what they are doing.Put simply this restaurant is one our favourites because it’s not trying to be anything but what it should. We come to Byron Bay expecting delicious food, fresh produce, great service, a chilled family friendly vibe, a clean and relaxing environment, and that’s exactly what you’ll get every time at the Beach Byron Bay.What can we say! We're speechless. THANK YOU! This is one of the most wonderful reviews we've ever received and can not thank you enough for taking the time to share your dining experience. We'll be sure to share with our team and look forward to welcoming you back to Beach Byron Bay soon.

Byron Bay provides no shortage of delightful breakfast and lunch offerings. If you have heard a whisper, read a review or been recommended this little gem, just go. Just a short drive from the cbd, immediately there is less of hustle and bustle vibe to Folk. You’re warmly welcomed into this visually beautiful space by the genuine and friendly team. The menu caters for all. The food is balanced, fresh and generously portioned. Local produce is featured and well used through both the food and beverage lists. We chose the iconic burrito, man it’s seriously good and the haloumi with dips and flat bread. Then on our last day in Byron we shared the stunning hot cakes. If you’re a coffee buff, you won’t be disappointed. These guys nail their coffee. We are at many of Byron’s “it” cafes, Folk by far topped them all. Thank you, the pleasure was ours.

Firstly getting a good coffee at 4pm is so difficult for some reason... not at Fresh Byron...Great coffee, great gluten free dessert.. stayed for dinner and it was great...The next day again... same situation ..So visited for coffee and 2 fish tacos.. good quality meals, greasy and great vibe..Staff are wonderful and each afternoon/evening there was a different musician singing - not over bearing or too loud so it was perfect..Both very talented may I say...Good job guys and thanks for being open for coffee at 4pm!!

Dined here for breakfast with a group of 9. So many good things on the menu. Very hard to decide what to order. The food is excellent & the staff are friendly & helpful. The poached eggs on sourdough with a side of bacon were cooked to perfection. For those that like something sweeter then order the Banana loaf with cinnamon ricotta & fresh berries. This place is always super busy and has a relaxed casual vibe. I highly recommend eating here while in Byron.
