We stopped in for the first time on a Sunday evening before the dinner hour. Had the salad and it was delicious and plenty of food.Wait staff was very busy but still got everything right and was attentive to us although she had a very large table and several others. The prices were OK. The place was nice and clean.

The food was good and the server was friendly and had lots of suggestions. She handled the two of us and kept up with a large party at the same time. It was too cold to eat outside and maybe the real atmosphere is eating on the patio overlooking the water. Eating inside, although at ground level, made us feel like we were in a basement. This place needs a complete rehab and redecoration in the dining room.

I like going to Perkins when I travel because I can always get great food at a reasonable price. This Perkins was no different. I had pancakes, eggs over easy, and turkey sausage for dinner. It was delicious. I really enjoy breakfast for dinner. Of course, the menu had all the usual dinner choices you would find at a diner -0 comfort food. Service and atmosphere were both fine.

This place is set up to remind you of home, with colorful tablecloths and window seats. When I wanted a caprese panini (which is not technically on their menu) they said, "No problem." I have to say, it was one of the better caprese sandwiches I have had, very flavorful. I don't remember what kind of sub my husband had, but he liked it and in particular liked the sweet potato fries he ordered on the side. My one "complaint"--and it is minor--is that my panini came with chips, but there was no choice on the kind of chips. As I could see when I walked to the door, regular Lays potato chips is the only kind of chips they sell. A little variety and choice would have been nice. But I would eat here again.

Not a month goes by where I indulge in this establishments superb Cream Chipped Beef for breakfast. I prefer mine 'Philly Style' with chipped beef on my potatoes, toast on the side. Sometimes for lunch I will have the appetizer 'Waitress Special' which includes Chicken Fingers, Fries, Onion Rings, Mozzarella Sticks, Jalapeno Peppers and Potato Skins, all for under $9 and for two people, that is a meal in itself. The soups are homemade and I have never been disappointed as some 'cream based' soups tend to have a burned taste after sitting. Not here. The atmosphere is basic but friendly, as one would expect from a diner that has been in business since the 1930's, and not over-decorated and gaudy as a few other diners in the Hightstown area. Plenty of parking, and do come with an appetite, as the portions are good-sized, and well worth checking out.

Ate here for the first time the other night. It won't be the last! Motel restaurants, in my experience, are usually lacking a lot. But not this one. Food was very good and was served well. Service was prompt, efficient, friendly and accommodating. Both chicken and salmon dishes were very good. This place is small. Seats only about 40 people, maybe less. But that, and the fact that it is in a motel shouldn't stop you from going here.

Looking for somewhere else to eat, we wandered down Route 130. The diner got great reviews so we went to experience the food, atmosphere and service. The place was immaculate and colorful with the red, white and blue bank seats. The waiter was friendly and informative. So what’s the problem you say. It’s the food.My calves liver was so under cooked that one piece was raw. Cooked properly, calves liver is delicious. The other two pieces were cooked better but not perfect. The vegetables were cooked and seasoned correctly. The potatoes were not tasty at all. It almost tasted liked they can from a box. The onions and mushrooms were limited and the amount of wine used to sauté was excessive based on taste. My wife ordered the meatloaf which is her favorite dish at a diner. It too lacked flavor. The vegetables and mashed potatoes were the same. When it came time for dessert, the waiter informed us that many selected items on the menu were not available. My wife asked for yellow cake and they told us they didn’t have any. Yet, when we paid the bill at the counter, there was the yellow cake with white icing. What??My advice is there many other diners in NJ. This one needs better management to survive.

What was once a prime example of a 'New Jersey diner' is no more. But in its place is a reasonably priced restaurant serving excellent food. I had been eating at the Americana for thirty years and it was always, well, a diner. Great burgers. Scrambled eggs were first rate. And so on.Ownership decided to do a makeover. Now this is a restaurant--a large one too. We had shrimp carbonara, braised short ribs, New York strip steaks, with a fine Pinot Noir. Service was attentive, there was no wait, and prices were reasonable. It really doesn't get better.

Meatball appetizer and foccacia appetizer highly recommended; chicken dishes excellent as are the catch of the day entrees.

A group of us had dinner but I am only writing about a very limited number of items. Reading the menu, the descriptions of the entrees are really quite plain, almost nothing out of the ordinary. The only different description was for the shrimp cocktail so I ordered it. Five shrimp that were ok and a sauce made up of tomatillo, jalapeno, and pureed avocado, etc. The dish came with a tablespoon, no fork. I guess one is supposed to eat the sauce as if it were a soup. Considering the ingredients, not a good idea. In this case, they should have stuck with regular, plain cocktail sauce. My wife and I each ordered the crab cake entree - came with mashed potatoes and an assortment of vegetables. The potatoes and veggies were ok but the crab cake was the worst I have ever tasted. I like crab cakes, have had them many times and even make them myself but this patty (see photo) was pure mush and not very tasty. As the place filled up (largely an older crowd on a Saturday night), it became so noisy that one could only hear the person to the immediate right or left. Waiter was apparently unable to bring additional water and would reach in front of one person to serve the next person at the table. Not the place for us.
