still a good place for a good nights rest

We stayed here once before. The prices are fairly low compared to the others in town. The place is quiet but somewhat dated however, if it got updated they would probably raise the prices, so I guess that means - If you are looking for a place to hang your hat for the night and don't mind older type accommodations, then this your place !

MAXX'S FOOD & DRINK

This review is for the bar, not the motel - Met co-workers at this place on 6/3/2020. Although I am a local, I had never been there, despite driving by thousands of times. We had a nice evening. Then, when I went to pay my tab, it was revealed to me that an individual, whom I know, and was talking with, who was not part of our group, and was there when I arrived, had left without paying their bill, and she had us on the same tab. She did this without my knowledge, or approval. I only ordered 3 drinks over several hours. The bill was for $65.00 . When I told her this was not my financial responsibility, she told me I had to pay it. There was no option of discussion. I had to reluctantly pay it, as I did not want her calling the police on me for trying to leave without paying the entire balance. I will never step foot into this establishment again. They need to retrain the barstaff. Theft, is theft. And as far as I'm concerned, over-charging a customer is stealing from them. What a shameful presentation for a business. I will in fact, continue to drive by, and advise the world not to go there.

Disgusting... RUN!!!

Reviewed By Teresa W

Where to start? It appeared that the homeless population stayed here and frequented the trash bin. A less than friendly check in clerk who was extremely difficult to understand. A large pile of filthy wet towels laying in the hallway getting to our room. The refrigerator had not been closed, so the freezer was frosted over. The towels were discolored and stained. The sheets had spots. There was something running down the wall under the sink area and near the toilet waste can. Crumbs in the microwave. Streaks on the mirror. Filthy molding. Crunchy and stained carpets. Two of the thinnest pillows we've ever seen in our lives. The table was scratched up and sticky. No shampoo. No coffee maker. No breakfast. Our Reno motels were full. If we'd had ANYWHERE else to go, we'd have left. We sprayed with lysol and slept in our clothes. To pay $65 for this dump was highway robbery!

When we arrived, the owner didn't show up, leaving us outside the structure. The following day, when he was available (after 9:00 am!!), we discovered he had already booked our room to other customers, pocketing our money and new customer's money. SUCH A DISHONEST!

Lack of upkeep and strange smells

Reviewed By jbobri

I stayed in pet-friendly cabin that had a strange smell that permeated the room. I think there needs to be a significant deep cleaning to rid the smell. The bathroom tub is dingy and although it may be clean, doesn’t look it. Everything is very old and worn out you can tell there is no reinvestment in property even for minimal upkeep and furniture replacement. The windows don’t open and close properly. I was so uncomfortable between the bad smell and overall dingy atmosphere. The experience was very unpleasant.

Wonderful room at last minute

Was not expecting to stay in Virginia city and called for a room late in the day. The owner was very warm and friendly and made me up a room quickly. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, the shower was hot and the bed was comfortable. The price made it even more pleasant. I plan to come back and stay again soon. Don’t pass up this little gem!

Mother Lode Motel

OK, but barely

Reviewed By DirtyTaco

Clean rooms, comfortable beds and near the historical business district. Manager was friendly, even after a group of us rolled in around 1030pm to check in. The rooms were sparse, but comfortable. I would have rated it higher but there were some problems with the room that couldn't have been addressed that night even if I had notified the manager. The toilet literally runs all the time. I had to shut off the valve to make it quiet. The shower head leaks water so you get the drip drip drip thing going on constantly, and the bathroom floor was totally damp. Not sure if its from the shower dripping onto the faucet head and splashing or what, but it was annoying to say the least. When checking room rates at another nearby hotel that has a better rating, the Mother Lode was not that much cheaper. It should have been.

No garbage bags provided to change garbage. Service desk stated no one available to assist. Called to share my experience, customer service stated someone will call back to discuss, no one called back, it has been 3 weeks. Will never stay there again, what a wait of money!

This hotel does not impress from the outside. It is neat on the outside, but I was skeptical. I asked to see our room and was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and had been updated. There was a refrigerator, small microwave, Cable TV, two comfortable chairs, desk chair also, and plenty of space in the room. They had AC and also provided a small stand fan also. They gave us bottled water, which I love. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and courteous. The price was great and I feel this is a great place to stay the night while traveling.

Almost There

Reviewed By paulapG4747ZM

The rooms & bathrooms were great. Clean & comfortable. Unfortunately our AC was not working and they were not able to move us. Finally we asked for a fan, which was supplied. The biggest disappointment was the kitchen and gathering area. Fridge, sink, minimal dishes, & microwave available. There was no stove or cooking apparatus, not even a plug in kettle to make coffee in the am. Part of using a hostel for us is the kitchen use, and the gathering area to meet other travelers. There was one table with 4 chairs in the kitchen, but no other seating or lounge type area.
