Reviews on Wine Bar food in Montpellier, Occitanie, France. Getting sick on vacation is a major drag, but if you have to be under the weather, Montpellier is an ideal place to do it. People have studied medicine here for centuries—the Moors established medical schools in the 9th century, and the Université Montpellier’s school of medicine was founded in 1220. Once the local docs give you a clean bill of health, explore the cathedral, mansions and opera house.

This is a small place with great owners and a terrific website! We were aided by the owner in our wine selection accompanied with an assortment of excellent cheese. The owners are young guys who are both kind and considerate and very knowledgeable with regard to wine and cheese. Please do not be put off by the size of the bar. It is a great experience and the owners are worthy of your patronage, they deserve success!Dear Donasdhu,Thanks a lot for your review. We are delighted that you spent good time in our wine bar and we are happy that you appreciated our products. For us, this kind of review ise a great motivation to keep our quality approach and continually improve ourselves.See you and well come back to Scotland!Les Tanins d'Abord

I was in Montpellier last week and I decided to go to this restaurant since it was close to my hotel. My opinion is positive. I really liked the food; I basically ordered only fish and seafood. The amount of food was quite copious and the staff really kind. The spot is very good since it is in the new neighbourhood ANTIGONE. The restaurant is surrounded by other restaurants, pubs, etc. so you can spend the after dinner in the same place. Outside you can sit in front of the river. I had twice dinner in this place and I really enjoyed my time.

Welcoming atmosphere in this popular restaurant/wine bar, frequented mainly by locals rather than tourists. Good quality wines at reasonable prices and excellent food. So good that we went here twice. We particularly enjoyed the perfectly cooked fish - a mixed platter of salmon and scallops was excellent, as was scallops en brochette. Other highlights included a starter of hot and cold smoked herring, and a main course of magret de canard (+chips!). Desserts were delicious. Familiar sounding desserts such as tarte au citron were given an original twist - a kind of deconstructed lemon tart, and similarly an apple tart. The menu initially looks a bit complex (lots of notes and comments) but staff were very friendly and helpful.

I've been to this improbable (due to its location) restaurant several times, but usually for lunch. The terrasse is lovely and the food and service have always been good, at a reasonable price. Last night my husband and I sat outside for dinner and each had the 29€ three-course menu. We were very happy with our starters, a tomato tartare with basil and a chèvre sorbet for me and gorgeous mussels in a persillade for monsieur. We both ordered the seiches à la plancha for the main course, and when we asked how they were served (in large, tender steaks), they were more than happy to have the chef slice them into strips as we prefer. The seiches and the side dishes were very good. The only disappointment for me was the profiterolles for dessert (the choux pastry was not fresh), but my date like the lemon mousse over crumble that he'd ordered. The waiter had selected a dry white wine for us, which was perfect (forgot the name, sorry).

We really enjoyed the hospitality of this place, the food was amazing and the wine selection and way of dispensing was fun. It was great to talk about all the wines they have on "tap" and how to pair them with the meats and cheeses. Our kids loved the raviolis and cheese. My wife and I loved trying all the different small plates each night. A great place as well when you are a big red drinker and your partner enjoys the whites. Try the armagnac, I found it a great experience at the end of the evening.

My worst dinner in France so far...The razor shells were filled with sand, served swiming in taseless oily linguine.A cote de boeuf tasting as it had been half boiled and finished pan-fried in some alien fat - or something of the sort. And the fries taste indicated that the oil hadn't been changed in a looong while...Most interestingly, in spite of apollogy, the staff's position on the first incident was to comment that this happens when working with high quality products. As if the taste of fries wasn't bitter enough...The high product quality, however, could explain ridiculously high price.Having little to do with the kitchen, the glass of red wine and location were actually nice.Never again!Sorry for the sand in the razor shell. They are 3 times washed but its fresh product... living in sand. Sometime it's not enough. For the rest I'm very sorry but our beef is a 21 days matured Aubrac and it's cook on grill. Our kitchen is very clean, we are changing our oil on a regular base... And what you call a "ridiculous high price" is a big surprise for us. All our prices are indicated on the board in front of the restaurant and on the menu... and we are making big efforts to keep them low.

This is a terrific restaurant in old town Montpellier in an extremely narrow alleyway. The waiter was extremely helpful. We had the Charcuteries de Pyrenee, Falafel and Mi-Cuit de Thun. The tuna was incredible...just barely cooke on the outside, and raw on the inside with an incredible, indescribable sauce. We had a bottle of Langedoc Chardonnay made from varietal Vigonier grapes which was great. After dinner we had Chocolate Mousse, Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream and two espressos. The total came to 54 Euros which was well worth it.
