Wife, daughter and son-in-law had dinner there. We had a bottle of wine, and the young folks had a couple of beers. We split the shrimp dumplings, octopus, king roll, tamarind duck, and the prig pow. All were excellent. Service was good, the appetizers came out 1 at the time, so we could split and share. The meals came out together, and we split those also. The prices were exactly what I expected from a high end restaurant.

When friendly, excellent service, super food, and unusually pleasant surroundings come together, a restaurant becomes an instant favorite. That's what happened for us the first time we tried a Thai Love NY.We've been back twice since that first time six months ago, and it's always great. The Tom kha is some of the best we've had. The pad Thai is well balanced and delicious. The curries are the stuff of dreams.Heat levels range from 1 to 5, with additional hot sauces available at the table. But even though we like heat, their 3 is perfect for us. I suspect that these lovely people, who make you feel very much at home, would prepare your choices any way you wished. We love Thai Love NY!

Our second visit to this restaurant and the background music hasn't really changed much! Fortunately neither has the tasty food although our waitress wasn't particularly enthusiastic. Also prices seem to have increased somewhat. Sadly not such a great experience this time.

Erawan Thai Restaurant

We tried the Koo Sang Koo Som platter for two offering, thinking that would be the best way to sample 6 of their 13 appetizers - Disappointing and flavorless and much was left behind. All, including most "deep fried" fried appetizers were clearly made WAY ahead (days ago?) and served cool at best. An attempt seemed to be made to refry at too low a temperature the stuffed rice paper roll which resulted in a greasy product. The "deep fried" shrimp patty was fishy tasting and the "deep fried tofu" was soggy. The chicken satay was green slime covered overcooked chicken. Onto a shared order of Pad Thai with pork - A red-colored mountain of rice noodles was served with itty-bitty pieces of overcooked thin 1/4" slices of pork which was sparingly tossed into the unappetizing mound, no egg or tofu as described was evidenced in the decomposed dish (bean spouts, chili powder, peanut bits thrown on the side of the dish with a slice of lemon). That, too, was mostly left behind. The restaurant celebrates being the New Times "Best of Syracuse in 2002" - I'd like to remind the pleasant manager who offered us ice cream or another dish to take away (which we did not accept) to compensate for our asked for honest critique that the touted accolade was 16 years ago!!! We're going back to Lemongrass, no we're running back to Lemongrass if we ever feel like Thai food in Syracuse again.
