Thai House Restaurant and Sushi Bar

I had the drunken noddles which I have found difficult to get the authentic stuff. This was a bulls eye, they got it right, tasty and meaty. I also had the Thai house dish which was a slam dunk.

Aroy Aroy Thai Sushi

Reviewed By Norm2020

I've been to Aroy Aroy twice and really can't say enough good things about my two experiences.Let's start with the menu. Aroy has a very extensive menu. Its not quite pan-Asian as the focus is definitely on Thai and Japanese (sushi, grilled entrees, tempura, etc), but there are a smattering of other notable specialities and influences including Vietnamese (Pho), Korean and Chinese. The atmosphere is nice, very clean and has a warm ambiance - they have made the most of their strip mall location that feels much more charming once you enter and are greeted with a supremely warm welcome. That takes us to service - incredibly attentive and friendly. They somehow managed to keep my water glass full despite my very thirsty nature with about a dozen water glass top offs. You will not be abandoned at Aroy Aroy. They do serve alcohol (including some Asian plum wines, sake and beer) and the prices are quite modest (on the drinks as well as across the menu), but they also permit BYOB.Okay, so the food is the important thing and I've left that for last! Its hard to leave the very first page of the menu since the Pho soup is quite outstanding. I had the Tom Kar broth which adds a nice hot and sour taste to the soup and was well stocked. Previously, I had the veggie tempura entree (outstanding - light and tasty and a really nice tempura sauce that is thicker than most restaurants so the flavor isn't diluted, nice side salad). They recently modified their menu and took the veg tempura off of the entree menu but they are happy to oblige if you ask for an entree portion of the veg tempura. My wife had the crispy tofu which was excellent with a good selection of vegetables, tofu cooked just enough to be crispy but still retain its character and robust sauce. We also had the Korean pancake which was a nice starter and an original item. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls (spicy tuna as well as sweet potato) on a previous visit and those were very fresh and quite tasty. Overall, I'd highly recommend Aroy Aroy. As a side note, its about a mile walk from the Rocky Hill ferry so its possible to stroll over from Rocky Hill for lunch.

Siam Glastonbury

Fine dining Thai cuisine, no MSG, varieties of food, lunch special M-F 11:30 - 3:00

Here is a modestly priced Thai restaurant -- not "cheap eats" by any means, yet at the lower-priced end of the "mid-range" spectrum -- whose Tamarind Duck is utterly sublime! At once tender (inside) and crispy (outside), with a light sauce and accompanying vegetables designed to highlight the top quality duck meat, this is a dish we never pass up when we're here. Also worth having, for the sake of variety on the table, are their chicken green curry and fried basil dishes, both impeccably prepared as well. Add the bonus of frequent flier miles from their participation in iDine's Rewards Network program, and this is a Thai restaurant not to be missed. .
