In 1863, it was the site of the epic Battle of Gettysburg, in which some 50,000 soldiers were killed. It is also, of course, the place where Abraham Lincoln delivered the immortal Gettysburg Address. The town itself is made up of houses, hotels and taverns dating back several centuries, but Gettysburg offers more modern travel and leisure activities, as well, like wine tastings, orchard tours, shopping and golfing.

My wife and I wanted to try a different restaurant but it was too busy so we walked around the corner and found Ping's. The menu is vast and offers a variety of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai dishes. The sushi wasn't the best I have had but since I lived in Japan for a few years I guess I tend to judge sushi a little harder than others. The service was fast and friendly. They don't serve alcohol but I do believe they have a BYOB policy (best to check ahead of time).

My husband and I each ordered a bowl of soup from Kazue in Gettysburg. I had the Chicken Noodle with Chicken Leg and he had the Pork Broth with Pork Belly. The noodles in each one were different, the chicken had rice noodles while the pork had egg noodles. Each dish came with a beautifully presented hard boiled egg and vegetables. This was the largest bowl of soup I had ever eaten. It was a wonderful and delicious meal.Kazue is especially known for their Sushi. It is attached to the Majestic Theatre making it easy to catch a meal before a show. I highly recommend it!
