Originally known as "Dansbury," East Stroudsburg was renamed for geographic reasons when the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad opened a station in town. It lies east of Stroudsburg and is somewhat more populous than that town. East Stroudsburg is the largest municipality in the East Stroudsburg, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area as designated by the Office of Management and Budget based on data from the 2010 US Census.

We stopped here on our vacation in the Poconos. The food was maybe a 6? They give you some delicious pico instead of salsa when you get there, and they have salsa if you ask, but it felt like it was Old El Paso? There was only one waiter/cashier. He was very nice, and maybe they were just short staffed. It was good, reasonably priced and if we lived there we would probably go back again.

Visiting the area, we wanted something authentic, tasty and not too expensive -- mamasitas exceeded on all counts. We tried a lot of different dishes and enjoyed every bite. STandouts were the bacalao fritters, crispy-tender, not fishy but delicious, an unfamiliar treat we know we will miss. The chicken stew was generous (leftovers fed us all over again the next day!) and tasted just right. The two kinds of platanos (tostones and maduros) were also as good as we've had anywhere. What we loved most of all was the passion and care that Mamasita put into every dish, all totally fresh and cooked to order, and the sincerity of her wish to please and delight us -- which she did!!You can't beat home made, authentic family-recipe type ethnic food. The prices are so fair you can feast here.We had the same warm welcome others have remarked on and enjoyed every minute of our visit and every bite. If we lived locally, we'd be regulars.

This is by far the best Spanish restaurant in the Poconos. Yes I said it! I moved here from Brooklyn 15 years ago and I could never find that back home taste (Brooklyn Spanish food) My daughter and my cousin went here a few days ago and the lady let us taste the Cassava; It took me back to the old days. The yellow rice and beans the half a chicken Omgoodness. I went back for the stew chicken the next day and eating it was Like that part in that Ratatouille Movie when the food critic took that first taste. I will rate this my #1 Spanish spot in the Poconos. And the prices are great!

The Pocono Cafe Bakery is excellent. We enjoyed baked items most days during our week-long stay nearby. The owners were very friendly and helpful, explaining the different pastries avaliable. We especially liked the pineapple turnovers and the coconut bread but everything we tried was very good.Don't miss this one, be sure to stop when in the area!
