Taqueria Mi Pueblo

Like others, I was looking forward to our dinner at Taqueria Mi Pueblo. It was recommended by a coworker and received such great acclaim. Our experience is summed up as disappointing. The food (tostadas and quesadillas) came out fast. Maybe too fast? There was no flavor in anything. Nothing. The tostadas looked good but were described as bland. My quesadillas were totally void of flavor and spice. Rice and beans were just as boring. As we labored through this meal, we realized we had been here years before and had a similar, unimpressive experience. We won't be coming back. There are many worthy places to get your Mexican food fix. This is not one of them.

Mix of Cuban and Spanish tapas offerings. The gratinado del chef (shrimp/scallop/mushroom in pastry shell) was very nice. Empanadas were bland, even with the sauces. The menu claims to have mojitos with "Havana Club," which is a Cuban rum that can't be imported to the U.S. due to the embargo, and upon questioning they admitted that it was an imitation, which seems quite deceptive. They are understaffed, so service is slow. It's also very noisy.

Excellent, authentic Spanish tapas. We had an excellent business lunch with a group of 5 (reservations accepted), and ordered a cornucopia of deliciousness. Among the plates: the sardines, the calamari, the mushrooms, the spicy potatoes, the croqueta, the ham.....each one was outstanding and we all shared. Spanish coffee afterwards--wow! Our server was attentive and professional. A charming space. Also they host soccer viewing events during the World Cup and that is always a lot of fun! Great for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend.
