Darwell's Too-Go

My wife and I have enjoyed Darwell's on the coast numerous times and have loved it, but our experience a few weeks ago at the Pearl location was not enjoyable. The service was bad...rude, slow...just bad. However, the food was worse. My "beef tips" were not tips at all and were covered in this over-salty gravy that was inedible. My wife's shrimp and grits was also over-salty and hardly edible. For dessert was a blueberry pudding, which seemed like a grainy muffin batter mixed with cool whip or something. Not good. We had stomach aches for the next day. For the prices you pay here, you would expect something much more. :(

My wife and I regularly eat at Walker’s when in Jackson and we are never disappointed. This time we each had the Hereford beef filet with sides of mashed potatoes, asparagus, sautéed spinach and crunchy onion “strings”. Simply splendid. Though stuffed we could not pass up the fried fig pie and fig pecan cake, both out of this world. The food, combined with top notch service, make this restaurant a true star.

Customer service was horrible, the waiter became rude, simple because I asked about a side salad. Not one time did I get a refill, nor the parent that was waiting on their son to enlist. They refilled everyone around us, and keep walking past my empty cup. Paying bill, the gentleman at the counter refused acknowledge my hand out, laying my ticket on the counter, as well as ink pen. As we walked out, his response was, I see why I left the south. ☹️

I enjoyed the casual setting. We were seated in the smaller dining area and it was more cozy. I recommend having the carbonation machine repaired so Sprite is available to order. I would also recommend a different music selection. Our waitress Alanna was nice but very busy. The food was average.

There are many Catfish Restaurants in Mississippi but Jerry's is definitely one of the best. Family owned/ Family oriented. Love their fish but I can't get enough of their hushpuppies and cole slaw. Very friendly and service is fine. If service is a little slow it is only because of the crowds. For me, You know it's good when everyone is willing to wait a bit

The Crawfish King

My wife and I came to this restaurant for lunch last week. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who helped us in the selection of our food as this was our first visit to this recently opened FLOWOOD, MS business.I had the Crawfish Lunch Plate (1-1/2 pounds of perfectly seasoned and cooked mud bugs, 1 whole sausage link, 2 ears of corn, and 3 potatoes). My wife had the Shrimp Dinner Plate (a generous pound of shrimp, 2 ears of corn, 3 potatoes, and a susage link). Our meals included self serve re-fillable drinks as well. Total price $28.00 and change. The restaurant is very clean and all tables are supplied with rolls of paper towels to wipe the delicious juices off your hands. Salt, pepper and various bottled sauces are also on the table. This is not a fancy place, so eating with your fingers is encouraged. While we were there, several people picked up to go orders of cooked seafood as well as a large variety of fish and live crawfish to be prepared at home.Everything we ate was perfectly prepared and delicious. Treat youself to some real southern seafood. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Berry's Seafood Restaurant

Reviewed By Bbking1791

Firstly, I’d like to say the food was excellent and the atmosphere was astounding. We were coming through headed home from the beach and everyone really enjoyed the dinner. Secondly, I just want to take a second and speak on what I witnessed here on this night. Christina and Nikki were our waitresses. They were very friendly and worked well together, ensuring all customers were taken care of. About half way through our dinner a group of people walk in and the young waitress walks up to the table and greets them with a smile, asks how their day is going and thanks them for choosing Berry’s to eat. This is when it goes down hill. Quickly. The guy tells this waitress that he isn’t very hungry, he just wants to eat a little bit off his woman’s plate and says he wants to just be charged for 1 buffet. The waitress kind of caught off guard says something along the lines of, that’s not allowed and offers plate options. The girlfriend of this guy leans over and whispers something in his ear when immediately he cuts the waitress off and tells her that she needs to get Carol on the phone now, I’m assuming this is the owner, stating he was good friends with him. I wasn’t able to hear what she said clearly but he ended up letting that go. Then he proceeds to let this waitress know who his father is. “Yeah. The mayor of this town is my father.” The waitress, still just smiling says something about them looking alike when all of a sudden this schmuck tells her to shut up three times. Getting a little louder each time. The waitress noticeably uncomfortable, gathers their drink orders and then walks away. A few seconds later, Christina comes over and tries to take their order. He starts up again and says something about calling Carol again. He says a few other arrogant and rude things but he is consistently greeted by patience and polite responses. I loved the food and the atmosphere but I mainly have to compliment these two young ladies. They handled this with such class and did not let it effect the service to their other tables. We really enjoyed them and hated to see them get treated so terribly by this table. We also had the privilege of finishing up the same time they did and noticed nothing left on the table and heard them leave a big tip of zero dollars on the card as the girlfriend laughed about it. As for the mayor of this town, you need to teach your entitled son some manners, especially when talking to women. He’s too old to be acting in such ways and treating people that way.
