El Pulpo Restaurant and Tapas Bar

Just visiting the place we kinda got lost and drove by the restaurant; the name looked appetizing and we tried for lunch. The restaurant was empty and that got us a little concerned but after cruising the menu we relaxed a bit. The restaurant is nicely decorated, clean and there is a flamenco music playing in background. We have tried six tapas and all of them didn’t disappoint. The artichokes were presented on a green salad with a lovely vinegrette. The fried calamari are a play of the Rhode Island classic, cooked nice and crispy with 2 sauces, one a classic aioli and one with avocado, garlic and peppers. The chorizo with backed beans had the barbecue sweetness enhanced by cooked figs matching the smokiness and the spice of the sausage. Also remarkable were the garlic shrimp which had a little acidity and spicy sauce perfect for dipping some of their bread. Overall a very good meal, and a place were I would gladly come back, certainly to try their paella.

Mattabesett Canoe Club

Was known as Harbor Park Restaurant, but is now going through a name change and (I believe) new owners. Had a wonderful meal there and would like to post a review.

We enjoyed a pleasant late afternoon out at this casual-but-neat establishment on The Connecticut River, where we were blessed by beautiful weather and a fine view of the waterfront. The classic New England clam chowder offered plenty of delicious morsels of clams, and my shrimp polenta had a nice, aromatic flavor, but the grits were somewhat watery. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, offering to take our picture of us posing in front of a rainbow that appeared across the river. My husband enjoyed his salmon, but it was a rather small strip, measuring 2 inches wide by about 7 inches long. His wedge salad had just enough blue cheese on it.

Great view in a golf course. Excellent generous sandwiches. Could not ask for better and terrific fries combining white and sweet potatoes. Large sandwiches and I must say the burgers looked outstanding

I had been looking forward to going to this Fish and Chips place. It's mostly a take out but that was what i wanted. I ordered the regular fish and chips. I was disappointed. The fish seemed odd tasting and it was quite greasy. It wasn't drained well. The french fies were the frozen type and not good atall.

We ordered a large cheese pizza, the baby clam pizza, an order of wings and a house salad. I was surprised because they only had a choice of 3 different dressings for the salad. Also, the wings were fine...nothing amazing and nothing horrible. They were just ok. Same with the pizza...they both were fine. Our family ate everything and no one complained, but no one raved over it either.
