I spend two weeks in the little tawn name "L'Hôpital" and I went tree times in "Le Balizié". The firts time I ate fish, the second time tapas and the last time "moules marinières". Each time it was excellent and the waitress was polite.

Friendly seafood restaurant in the port of Meschers. Fresh fish barbecued almost in front of you. The sea bream was delicious, as was the crab casserole starter. Husband chose smoked salmon maison. Chunky pieces of fish, definitely not out of a packet. Always busy. Advisable to book. Excellent value

Our visit to Moussaillon was completelt unplanned. We were in Meschers for an event when the heavens opened and it rained, (and rained and rained). We therefore decided to take lunch in this restaurant. The first thing you notice in the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We then selected our lunch comprising of fish soup as a started - which was among the best we have had. Our main course were mussels, which despite the recent epidemic in the area were absolutely first class, a good size, beautifully coloured and very tasty. To complete our lunch we opted for 'Fromage Blanc au Cognac' - if you have never tasted this local dish then you absolutely must - its heaven.Great place for a lunch.

Great location, overlooking the sea, great beach, service excellent, food excellent, what more do you want, English spoken, if you need it, try the Tapas starter, just enough if you want a quick meal, lobster is also on the menu, expensive, yes, but it will be fresh (its in a tank, just pick the one you want!!) in general, a very good restaurant with great service.

I was expecting great things based on other reviews and while good it was not exceptional. Service was fine, location is nice, venue is pleasant. Very sad, we have eaten here twice before each time it was brilliant, both my wife and I were looking forward to our third visit, just two months after our last. What a let down! My starter was good however my wife's fish soup was stone cold not even warm, that went back to be reheated which took about two minutes so microwaved! My main course was supposed to be a local take on Bouillabaisse, it was pieces of various types of fish in the same fish soup as my wife's now way was the fish cooked in the broth which it should be and tasted of nothing. My wife's main of Tuna was tough. Desserts were very good as they always have been. Everything else rubbish! They knew we were not happy but no word of apology, I am very sorry and will think twice about visiting again. Certainly before I do I will have a conversation with them!

I live in Soula Sur Mer. My husband and I visited the Grill Ocean for lunch. I ordered from the " dish of the day" my husband ordered from the A La Carte Menu.When the meals arrived my husband had the wrong dish. Mine was correct but to me it looked as if it had been plated up some hours before. I touched it with my little finger and it was cold. I returned it to the waiter and said, I do not want this or to have it replaced. I will sit here and just wait for my husband.My husband finished his meal and he enjoyed it. I asked for the bill. I was charged for the two meals, I paid without question, its a small town. End of story for us. Some weeks later I had a visit to my home from the owner of the Grill Ocean and his wife accusing me of writing a bad review. No matter how many times i said I did not write a revue ( its a small town, in my opinion you do not upset the locals) he insisted I had. I asked him several times to leave but he didn't leave until my 6'3" son came to the gate.Today I am writing a revue, so owner of the Grill Ocean do your worst.p.s. I'm 70 years old.

La Crique is in a delightful spot, just above a sheltered beach. The decor is charming and original. Fresh seafood. Good wine list. Perfect for lunch, dinner or just a snack. We had the best oysters I've tasted in the last year, if not longer. The staff are welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed. The music is too loud for my (older) taste - but clearly enjoyed by the young clientele, and suited to the relaxed, on-the-beach ambience. We sat inside because the April weather was too inclement for the large veranda. I'd love to return in the summer months. If you are in the Charente Maritime and love seafood, this is worth a detour.

This place was recommended to us by locals as restaurant with good seafood for a reasonable price. The restaurant offers a rich variety of fish/seafood, lovely staff, good choice of wine. Definitely recomnend it:)
