Our lunch was great and well-priced....service was professional and quick.there was a good selection of wines at reasonable prices.I had to leave my wife there for a while while I attended a medical appointment....she felt very comfortable and safe there alone, and said there there was so much free finger foodbeing passed around in the friendly and welcoming pokie area, that she felt it would sufficed in lieu of lunch.We are very happy to hear that you and your wife enjoyed your time at the Southern Hotel! We hope to see you both again soon.

I ate at this restaurant twice and though the food was excellent, my choice for GF was quite limited. On the plus side, the staff were attentive and helpful and the food appeared promptly. As we were staying in the hotel it was quite easy to charge back to our room. Highly recommendWe are glad to hear that you enjoyed your recent dining experiences with us, cecdibar. Dined with a large group on a very busy Saturday night. Menu offered good variety and suited to most tastes. Servings came out in quick succession flolowing ordering and were decent serves. Drinks at usual bar prices, staff friendly and very efficient considering the large number of patrons.

Date night out with hubby. Awesome food, awesome service, fantastic atmosphere and the white chocolate and strawberry spring rolls for dessert where a la carte quality! Simply sensational. Could not take this hotel on a thing. Great value for money. The owner should be very, very proud of his wonderful staff! Will be coming back again!!!!

Visited on the weekend and loved this place! Burgers were really tasty and staff were so lovely. They made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The atmosphere outside was buzzing with buskers singing and markets on. Only downside would be that we paid for a medium chips to share and they gave us a small. We didn't notice till we were off to our destination.

Very large venue. Unfortunately the lady took an eternity to take our orders and then she forgot them and had to come out and retake them. Arrived 3 minutes before the kitchen closed on Thursday so was grateful we were still able to order. Ordered an entree of 3 oysters and waited approximately 50 minutes for our mains to arrive. As we were the only custmers waiting it was obvious the bell in the kitchen was for delivery of our meals however it rang 3 times while the waiter continued to have a casual chat with man at the bar. In the end I stood up with intention to collect my own meal and the waiter responded with heading directly to retrieve and deliver the meals. Ordered a 200g steak medium rare with prawn toppers and pepper gravey on the side. Received steak medium/well done steak. Asked for a replacement steak which took 25mins to arrive with gravy all over it. Not very tender and struggled to make 200grams in size. My partner ordered the $45 seafood platter for one. The bugs were over cooked, dry and chewy. The mussels were shriveled and crusty. Have eaten here several times before and quality has declined each time. No intention on returning any time soon, if at all. Premium price is charged for meals so expect quality food and premium service.Thank you for taking the time to provide us with you review. Always a great place to eat & drink...Safe to have any sort of function there, plenty of menu options, service great. The Tasting Place is Awesome, and always great, the Nuttty Chicken as a main is always Delicious, the only shame is no room for desert!!!What a great wonderful review Annette! It's true, we're not known for our small meals but at least you won't go home hungry at our place. We really appreciate your positive feedback and recommendations to others. Went for lunch on a Thursday for a club outing - around 35 people. This is a great pub with lots of atmosphere. The service is friendly, relaxed and very efficient. They took all our orders individually and food was quickly served with surprisingly small wait time. Servings are enormous so make sure you take an appetite if you visit. Really good selection of food off a blackboard menu which is better than the usual pub fare. would definitely recommend for a lunch visit. strongly recommend a booking as this is a popular place to dine.
