I was looking for a more authentic Mexican restaurant to celebrate a birthday, and El Rey hit the spot. The food was delicious - lots of great options beyond your run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants, including fresh grilled seafood items. Note that it gets very busy and the parking lot fills up quickly; wasn't a problem for us as we met at 5:15pm, but something to consider if you're planning to arrive later. We'll be back!

After a long day of travel and heavy Atlanta traffic, we were in no mood to get back on the road. Just so happens this quaint Mexican restaurant was just down the road from the hotel. Without much discussion, this was the evenings dining destination! As it turns out GREAT choice! The food was awesome and plentiful. I had the La Botana Especial which was a sampling of the most popular fare, a taco, and enchilada, a tamale, a chille relleno, beans, rice and a bit of guacamole salad, all for $9.95! Needless to say a to go box was needed! We arrived just before 1700 and good thing we did as shortly thereafter there was a line at the door waiting, on a Wednesday. Anyway, the outside is not too much to look at but as I've said in some of my other reviews, don't judge a book by its cover, which applies well here. The inside of the restaurant is dated but who really cares, the food is awesome, the prices more than reasonable, especially for a north Atlanta locale! The staff was exceptionally friendly and despite the dinner rush, was quite attentive. So, if you're in the area and want some great Mexican food, give this place a try!Thanks for reading!

You don't need to go to Colombia to try authentic Colombian dishes. One of the best Colombian restaurants I have ever been. Portions were very generous and the quality of the dishes very high (especially steak). Even tho we don't speak Spanish we felt as part of this amazing atmosphere. Service was very good, very attentive and helpful. Easy to say, fantastic place!

I'm amazed that this restaurant does not stay jammed packed. The food is top notch, especially the vaca frita and maduros. I choose the hearts of palm (ask that they withhold the salt) over yellow beans and black rice, but if you choose the beans and rice, be sure to add some diced tomatoes and cut onion to make it an exceptional side dish. Parking is ample. It is inside the Perimeter, but just barely. Perhaps the location keeps down the crowds. The surrounding shopping center is a bit dicey. I go often, and they know what I want as I walk in. If you are indulging, the flan is absolute perfection.

We chose this place based on all the rave reviews, but frankly it just wasn't good. The service was great, and very friendly, but the food was not at all what we anticipated, which is such a shame as I was really hoping to be able to rave about this one.
