This restaurant was over the top. From the staff of waiters to the exquisitely presented food. No rush, but rather a true dining experience.... served slow and graceful. The specialty foods between courses were delicious assorted sorbets in unusual flavors, that truly cleansed your palate, to prepare you for the next scrumptious morsels. Dear Guest,Thank you for your visit and thank you for your nice comments about your meal.We are really pleased that you had a "true dining experience" and that you found our restaurant "over the top".Hoping that we shall have the chance to serve you again in the near future.Sincerely,

I hesitated to make a reservation at this restaurant after reading the owner's ("Patrick E.") belligerent responses to negative comments. Especially when he equated his restaurant's wine mark-up with a dermatologist's fees (the latter requiring eight years of studies). But I love eating out and I love good food and I know you can't always trust a negative review. That being said, we arrived in the restaurant and were "greeted" by an older gentleman, the maître d'. His demeanor was somewhat cold, as is the white sterile atmosphere of the restaurant. What really struck us, however, was that his shirt was missing a button and we were given a totally unwelcome view of his older gentleman's belly. Not a good first impression. When we sat down, the maître d' leaned over me to explain the menu, using his finger to point to the prices. Unfortunately, a few of his nails were quite dirty and black underneath and this was totally unsettling. As we waited for our friends to arrive, we were feeling more and more uncomfortable. When I happened to notice that a glass of Riccadonna Prosecco, which sells at all major French supermarket chains for 6/7€ a bottle, was NINE EUROS a glass. I was shocked. The wine pairing with the menu was 14€ a glass, which is outrageous! I'm more than willing to pay this price in a 3-star restaurant or for a Puligny-Montrachet, but they are selling standard supermarket wine (Minutey Rosé at 32€) quite above the fair restaurant mark-up.We did not feel that we were going to enjoy our meal in this restaurant given the ambiance and the pricing. Nothing on the very-limited menu appealed to us (pears & risotto, or chestnuts & foie gras appetizers) and we decided to cut our losses.Perhaps the food is outstanding and we might have missed out on a culinary adventure, but the restaurant itself was a major disappointment to us. Hope you work out the kinks, Monsieur E., good luck!Sorry "danish75", but your review sounds particularly weird and totally inappropriate. No foreigners reservation for a table of 4 in previous weeks : only 4 of Washington, they quoted Carmen 5/5, food, service, value for money. Please, visit our website to get their review, and many more. It could help you to moderate yours a little bit in future. We had too a table of 4, previous saturday evening, as the restaurant was full. People sat, read the menu and left restaurant arguing it was too expensive (46 euros a full menu HAHA). Lack of minimal education and politeness, what a pity, you will admit.Just, I would like to tell you too that I find unfair and inelegant to put emphasis on age of Alain, our Maitre d'Hotel, really kind to everybody and a great professional. He was strongly affected when he read your review about him. Moreover, no button missing, nails clean. Attack people on age, race, religion, weight or appearance is just unappropriate. And about price "paying 14 euros for a Puligny Montrachet in a 3-star restaurant" HAHA that's just a huge joke ! A 3 star restaurant charges at least 300 euros per menu + wines Bottle of Puligny is charged from 150/200 euros to ... thousands Glass of Puligny (40, 60, 100 euros depending on the wine chosen)I would really like to make sure that you ever visited such a type of restaurant :)About economics in restaurant : Sell price - VAT - cost of food and beverages - cost of labour - other fix cost - tax = net profitin value, for a traditional restaurant : 2,5%When you are charged 70 euros vat included, 60 euros exclu vat (what gets really the restaurant), final benefit is 60 x 2,5% = 1,5 euro , for a 14 hours of work per day. Do you wanna try ??This is not belligerence, just facts and figuresCompare now to your own income and think twice before writing down next time, please.

We were a family of 4, including 1 vegetarian and 1 vegan. We had done our research ahead of time, as finding reasonable priced vegan options is limited in France. We stopped here before going in to Versailles Palace, as we wanted to bring a picnic with us, and the cafe is only a few minutes walk from it. It was a great choice, with friendly staff and a delicious selection of sandwiches for everyone. Highly recommend.
