My boyfriend and I decided to visit on a Saturday night and was greeted by the waiter/ owner. He sat us down and gave us our menus. After around 10 minutes, they took our drinks and food order. The starter was really nice and came out after around 15 minutes. We had onion bhajis, samosas, chicken tikka and sheesh kebab. It was presented on a hot plate with sautéed onions underneath. It was a good start! But then it all went horribly wrong. Our empty hot plate and dirty plates were left on our table and we had to wait 40 MINUTES for our main! It wasnât even busy in there and half way through, we overheard the waiter/ owner say that he wanted to move us mid-meal so some other customers could sit in our seat, even though there was other tables empty around us. By this time, we wanted to just walk out as we were hungry and bored of waiting. When the food finally came out, it was very mediocre and tasted like a normal chicken curry I could make at home. The garlic naan was also very greasy. By this point we wanted to get out of there, so we went to the bar to pay and as we did this, he asked if we were leaving and quickly took away all our dishes and got another couple sitting in our seats that had just walked in, before we had even left the restaurant! No atmosphere and all very rushy/ muddled but with a long wait for food. Not recommended.

On the first visit my expectations weren't high, but I was pleasantly surprised. I've been back several times since, and every time the curries have been excellent. On the recent visit I tried the slow cooked Railway Goat curry, and it's one of the best curries I've ever eaten. The naan bread is also perfectly made, and side dishes all good. Service is good, food came reasonably quickly. If you're after a curry in Griffith you will not be disappointed with 99 Spices.

I write as one who has travelled in India extensively over many months.Food here is okay, very liquid, and lacking substance. Unlike anything I would expect in India.Staff service was friendly and responsive to customer request however did not offer advice or info unless sought.Surroundings were bland.
