No candelabre anymore, and the gregorian chanting that made the place so special was gone this time. What a shame! Opened in 1992 and otherwise not changed over the years, but more noisy than before and assembly line before x-mas. No traditional x-mas food (yippi!) but trying a twist in the subject. Should stick to the normal menu which is fine. Kitchen deliver although small portions and not as warm ad it should (assembly line) poor service from unexperienced staff, but sure it is back to normal after the holiday. Get the chanting and candelabre bach with professional staff, and I will give full score next. Still worth finding. Large, but intimate at the same time. Booking recommended for weekends.

My customer took us out for dinner here. Was absolutely wonderful. Atmosphere was nice, food delicious. Portion sizes were very generous. I ordered the pork shank for my main and there was enough to feed 2. The chocolate mousse was beautiful too!

Chez Colin

There are several restaurants in Oslo that make French style meals. However, something seems to be missing from many of them. Unexperienced staff, interior not right, too hyped, price/quality not right. In my opinion Chez Colin manages to get everything right, so right that you would think that you are in a good French village restaurant. The staff is nice and some of them are even French.Last time we were there we had a series of traditional French dishes including foie gras poelé, all of them nicely presented and accomanied by good wines. The only noticable drawback was that some of the dishes were a bit too salty. The ratio of price / quality is very good. I they get a Michelin star prices would probably increase so I hope they don't get it.

Brasserie France

After ten days along the west coast of Norway, we were ready for something a little different in Oslo. We booked a table well in advance - a reservation is definitely needed. The restaurant is crowded, popular and lively. The food is quite good. We both opted for the whole sole. It was excellent. The desert trolley is a little slow, but it is quite good and an unexpected bargain in Norway. If you share, you pick whatever your want until the plate is full. That was more than enough for the two of us. If you get your own, you get to refill the plate as much as you like. I can't imagine why you would want to as one plate is a massive amount of dessert.

Astonishing food and nice presentation of it. Every dish in the five-course menu had something special to satisfy the taste buds. The service and staff is very nice and helpful. Only the atmosphere makes it worth a try. The wine map is one of a kind and makes perhaps one of the best in Norway. As it is a french inspired (which also reflects beatifully in the interior and atmosphere) restaurant the wine in cynosure is naturally french, ranging from several 1er cru Chablis to the famous and decadent Château D’Yquem - for whites. For reds you can get a nice bottle of Château Haut-Bailly but also a good ‘85 Mouton Rothschild or even Echezeaux. They also have an impressive Champagne collection with vines like Cristal, Dom., and Jouët...All in all a very nice experience and nice restaurant that definately deserves a visit! Five stars, no doubt.Thank you very much for a nice review. Yes, we have a great wine list, you can test some other manufacturers on next visit. Hope to see you again

From the moment you enter, it is obvious you’re in for an extraordinary experience. Service is impeccable, discreet and personal. The atmosphere is elegant, welcoming and relaxed. We ordered the full tasting menu with the wine pairing menu, as I believe most customers do. Trust me, you can’t go wrong. All of the dishes were stunning, and wine pairings perfect. Some of the dishes were so surprising, visually pleasing and well tasting that on several occasions my wife and I could do nothing but grin and laugh of pure pleasure.I have eaten in restaurant several times a week for many years all over the world. I can hardly remember a better experience, even in two and three star Michelin restaurants. With so many highlights, it is difficult to pick a favorite dish, but obviously the signature pasta dome must be mentioned. The lemon tart was also exquisite, but all of the courses were truly extraordinary, creative yet traditional and all made with craftsmanship which is scarce, unique and simply fantastic. It does not come cheaply, but is worth every penny.Hi TomasolhThank you so much for a wonderful review, and that you take you time to write it. We realy appreciate hearing from our guests.Looking forward to seeing you back.Kindly regards Jan and the team A Laise.
