We had a great meal here... grilled feta, lemon lasagna, and a speculoos dessert. It was a nice change from typical French menus and dishes. My only complaints are the cramped size and the poor service, but even so, we will most likely go back!

Aux Casseroles Qui Chantent

I was told the restaurant had good reviews. The decor is bare, the seats not comfortable. It was cold and raining the day we went for lunch, and we sat at our table withiut getting any service for 15 minutes while the two waitresses chatted behind a counter without paying attention to us. The restaurant is small, but we had to make efforts to get their attention. I asked for a kir, which was the worst I ever had. The white wine was not chilled properly and it had the smallest drop of cassis in it, the kir was barely pale pink and had no flavor. The menu was small, both starters contained raw items, I could pick between raw fish and a raw egg in a tiny bowl of lentil soup. I had a Maroccan main dish, which tasted nice, but was small. I felt bad for my good friend who had invited me to this place,he paid a lot of money for a very small meal. The chef did come out of the kitchen to have a chat with us, but what can one say to the chef when he asks you if you liked the meal when he asks you in the restaurant in front of other customers? It wouold be better and more neutral to have a feedback card for customers to fill out. I was still hungry when we left, but I saw two ladies eating dessert at another table, they were the tiniest desserts I had ever seen. One lady had a kind of sorbet or mousse in an itty bitty glass and had eaten her dessert in two spoonfuls. Eat there if you are on a diet and have plenty of money.

Daring to have “bouchon” in the name of your restaurant and not being in Lyon is a real challenge. So we were very curious about this restaurant. It is situated in the center of Caen, and by nice weather you can eat on the terrace, what I would not recommend, because it is on the sidewalk of a steep street. Sometimes cars stand there and their fumes come over. So it is better to have the meal inside. You better book your table in advance, because there is the risk that the place is full. We got a nice table in the back of the small restaurant. The menu is on a blackboard. You can choose out of two set menus or each dish can be ordered à la carte. It is also possible to choose a dish from one menu and another from the other menu. Nobody worries. We ate brandade d’andouillette with snails and scrambled egg, a carrot veloute, gazpacho from zucchini with poached egg, chicken leg cooked in Norman beer and pork breast with carrot stew. As dessert we had chocolate cake and rum cake. All dishes where really good, well cooked and tasteful. This restaurant is a very good place to have a lovely meal. So is the lady of the house: very professional and friendly.

Loved the food, remarkable experience. Only complaint was that when I mentioned to our waitress that there were mosquitoes around us (we saw one repeatedly) and we had gotten several bites, she acknowledged the comment as if to say that was entirely possible (only a "oui"!), but she seemed totally disinterested in doing anything about it. I'm itching as I write this...

This fabulous restaurant is just outside Caen and should not be missed. Situated on the lovely canal side, the restaurant is tastefully decorated and we were made most welcome by the staff. The menu changes appropriately with the seasons and is in the chef/owners hands....and very capable they are too. Delicious melon soup as a little pre starter that's after tasty little things with our aperitifs!the courses were absolutely wonderful, and so beautifully and artfully presented.Lovely to see the chefs at work through the glass.charming staff and such care taken with glassware, cutlery...all a very high standard.Highly recommended

While the salmon tartare starter was excellent the Caesar salad my wife had was dry to the point of being inedible. The chicken was way over cooked and there was no dressing. When our dissatisfaction was pointed out, the waitress indicated that the salad, which was virtually uneaten would be deducted from the bill. On paying the bill, only a cappuccino was deducted and not the salad. To my embarrassment, I only discovered this on return to our hotel or I would have raised a fuss. I feel that we were taken advantage of as tourists. Of note that the guests at the next table had to have a main course returned to the kitchen. Whether this was a Sunday night ‘B team’ staff or normal standard, this restaurant is not recommended; there are others in town.

It’s such a cosy restaurant and the the gentleman that served us was a perfect host. We wanted a dinner of galettes and crepes and we certainly came to the right place. With such a huge variety to pick from it was a difficult choice. I had their special which was scallops and cream leaks, it was delicious!Desserts were equally good and so was their house wine. It’s quite small so best to reserve a table, so pleased we did!

We were a party of six and everyone without exception thought our meal was brilliant. The welcome and service was everything you would expect. The quality and taste of the food was first class with a very good wine list that was not too expensive for good wine. All the food choices were appreciated with no-one disappointed. An exceptional evening.

Had dinner here before embarking for the UK on Saturday night . The service was faultless and the staff really lovely. We were not rushed at all and we had time to eat our meal at a lovely gentle pace. The Mere et terre starter of fois gras and salmon and prawn was superb and our main course of steak perfectly cooked to my taste and my wife had the veal in a lovely white sauce. The veal was a little overcooked but was still really tasty. All in all a good meal.
