New Hope Star Diner

We go here when my family and my in-laws (eight total) want to go to a reasonably priced, well prepared meal restaurant. It has three sections for dining and has a pleasant interior. Meals tend to be large portions with a nice salad bar to boot. Hostess usually there to seat you. Best to stick to comfort food, as this is your typical well priced diner.. not an upscale restaurant frequently found in downtown New Hope. Vegetables sides & meat stews are well cooked Mediterranean style. Plenty of free parking and affordable specials, in contrast to an ever increasing, upscale priced downtown New Hope.

We missed several fast food place on our way up from Gettysburg and happened upon this place. It was very spacious very clean looking. We were greeted by the hostess immediately when we came in. The waitress was quick and very cordial. I had split pea soup which was delicious and then their wings. I ordered the mild which had a honey mustard type of sauce on them that was just delicious. They were extremely crispy and yet still very moist and tender. They were not greasy at all. They were so ample I ended up bringing three home for later. My husband ordered a turkey club sandwich the portion was huge along with numerous french fries. He too couldn't finish his lunch. I will be sure if I'm in the area again to make this place a stop. It's a matter of fact I'd go out of my way. Hope you find it as appealing.

This restaurant, now known as the Red Star diner, is New Hope's one and only diner. The coffee has improved greatly under the new owners. They use Lacas coffee with freshly ground beans (according to the manager). It's fine for breakfast specials; waffles are good and available with fresh strawberries. There are many dinner specials, many of which come with a salad bar. As with most diners, the emphasis is on quantity.

Could be a set for a Hollywood movie - a sleepy small town cafe with good food a friendly service. It’s a throwback to a better more friendly time. The Italian wedding soup is outstanding. Egg salad sandwich is yummy and the pies are great. Amazing fries, generous portions! Service is friendly and ice tea is always filled. Small town cafe at it’s best!
