Looking at the menu we could tell the Dipsea specialized in Greek food and we pretty much went all in. The Gyros, Meze Plate (spanakopita, dolmades, falafel, pita, Greek salad, pepperoncinis, tzatziki and skordalia), and Souvlaki Special were all really, really good. My son's Fish and Chips was also quite tasty - he loved it though I felt it was not quite in the same league as our Greek feast. And the portion sizes were *huge* - we were famished after hiking the serendipitously named Dipsea Trail and only my son succeeded in finishing off his meal.As for drinks, my Arnold Palmer was delicious (our waitress even asked how sweet I wanted it mixed) but it couldn't hold a candle to the milk shakes and smoothies. The rest of my family deservedly adored their Oreo shake, Vanilla shake, and Strawberry Colada smoothie. The service was exceptional (thank you Debbie) and the decor a kind of quaint country kitchen meets the sea.

Locals and visitors from around the world have been enjoying fresh seafood in this 19th century Victorian building. A historic landmark and family owned for over 40 years, Scoma's is surrounded by the beauty of the San Francisco bay.
Sometimes timing is everything. On a day trip to Sausalito we hadn't booked ahead, despite our son's recommendation to do so. When we turned up, we could see that it was very busy but we asked if they might have a table. They did and we were asked if we preferred inside or out. We first took a look at the outside table but it was in full sun and to the side of the building, so not the best view, so we opted to go inside. It seems that just as we got inside, they had finished re-laying a table for two right in the window at the end, with a fantastic view out over the Bay. For my money, this was the best two seat table in the house, and we were just so lucky to get it.So, on to the food. We skipped starters, knowing how large American portions can be, and went straight for lazy cioppinos. What a treat! Full of tasty fish and shellfish, plus crab already taken from its shell (hence the lazy!). In an amazing tomatoey broth and with garlic bread. It was, without doubt, the best seafood stew I have had in many a year. After looking at the dessert menu, we somehow found space for a creme brulee for my wife an a zabaglione for me. Both heavenly.I wish we could go again tomorrow!!!
Unpresupposing, this tiny cafe serves up great meals snacks in quick time. It would be a great disservice to call Sam's meals 'fast food.' since this ain't your run-of-the-mill joint - nor is it a greasy spoon. The Shelter Bay crowd have discerning tastes and rigorous demands of what goes on a plate - even when on the run. And the base clientele here - doctors, lawyers, other professionals, and their own clients - have expectations that must be (and are) met.Mediterranean fare, along with very scrumptious sandwiches, delights the quick-stoppers and foodies alike. Hot paninis, wraps, cold & hot sandwiches (my fave is the Chicken Jack with onions), lots and lots of salads, breakfast, bagels, and specials (falafel or chicken pitas, Mediterranean plate that is super).Basically business hours 730a-430p, no dinner service, and a wonderful estuary behind the three-story wood office building, where you can enjoy your meal in a peaceful setting.Because of Sam, I look forward to my visits to the doctor!
