Located in a small mall on the northeast corner of Northwest Highway and Mt. Prospect Rd., there is plenty of parking for the House of Szechwan. From the time that you walk between the lions at the front door, you will feel like you are in a Chinatown restaurant. The interior is nicely decorated with a lot of red which in the Chinese culture symbolizes luck, happiness and joy. The staff was very friendly and our Latina waitress was efficient and personable, and seemed to enjoy interacting with our grandkids. There were five of us, and that included two 4 year olds and one 2 year old. We immediately ordered three orders of potstickers for the kids and believe me, we were quite surprised as to how big each of those potstickers was. Not only were they big, but they tasted really, really good. Next time, I'm going to order crab Rangoon just to see if those taste that good, too. We ordered a pork fried rice and a chicken fried rice. With a couple of extra plates and tea cups, we were able to spread the food and soups around. The egg drop soup was delicious, at least for the one spoonful that I got, since my grandson ended up liking it so much that I never got another try. Both fried rices were very tasty and were huge portions. House of Szechwan is very clean and well-kept, including the restrooms. The prices were quite reasonable for the amount of food that you receive.

I got the Braised Pork Noodles and it was supposed to be spicy. It was very bland. I had to add more of the Chili/oil on the table to get any spice in it. The noodles on the bottom were dry and I had to blend them thoroughly with the conservative portion of pork topping to moisten them up. It could be that I got there after the lunch rush but I really wasn't impressed. The prices were not the $ range but closer to the $$ range especially since all is ala cart.

This restaurant has the most friendly owners who are willing to accommodate any variations in food order to suit your taste. Their best dishes are not generally on the menu but if you can describe what you wish to eat, you will be pleasantly surprised by what the kitchen would do for you. Most of the dishes on the menu are "run of the mill" Chinese dishes. These are reasonably priced. However, if one wants real treat from this restaurant, one should go for their specialty dishes. They are little pricy but well worth the extra money.Service is fast. Food quantity used to be more but has shrunk a bit lately.

Mian is the fourth restaurant located along one wall at Rivers Casino. It is a small restaurant with a small amount of seating. They offer a blend of different ethnic Asian cuisines. Some of the items are potstickers, roasted duck, Korean rice bowl, Vietnamese Pho and beef stir-fry. We ordered an order of spicy dumplings and a bowl of wonton noodles in clear broth.. It was more than enough for both of us. And it tasted good. The service was friendly and efficient. The prices are a bit higher, but what you would expect in a casino environment.

Tried this place a couple of times for their different lunch specials. They are definitely worth the price. Lots of food for a great price. It certainly beats the chain found at malls by miles! The chicken and beef dishes were tasty and not poor quality like some Chinese take out places. They have fairly good quality products.I have tried several others in the area, and have settled on this place.
