Visited A Gen Ing last Sunday when we took a break from mountain-biking. We just had some coffees and a tea and ice creams, nothing special to mention. Tea and coffee were alright, we were served quickly and had a nice rest on the terrace.I would not go back specially for the restaurant, because the menu is not very special, neither is the interior. But its location is ideal for a break.

We went out into Gulpen to find a nice and simple place to have a meal, and we got what we were looking for!The signs in front of a small gate beckoned us in and brought us to a lovely little square covered in art and greens.It had a very nice atmosphere, really cute. The staff welcomed us in and gave us the menu - a simple choice menu, a venison menu and an a la carte menu. My boyfriend was very satisfied with the simple one, having onion soup (which was a tad too pepper-y, but still good), escalope and coffee. I was very content with the carpaccio made out of local Heuvelland ham and melon, and a main dish of rib-eye and 'diamanthaas' (a nice and tender piece of beef), also Heuvelland meat. They should make a seperate dish out of the potato gratin served with it, it was sooo good!The only thing was that we were seated pretty close to the door and every time it opened we were greeted by an icy draft.Other than that, a certain recommendation!

Outside of the city of Maastricht is this beautiful castle. In the evening you are welcomed by a lot of candles lining the pathways to the castle nestled close to the marl caves. After an aperitive in the wine cellars, which I donât think is optimal for the wines, we had a menu in the restaurant. Good service and original with a lot of attention for the âmise en placeâ. Salmon with nori, garlic, quinoa and sambai started with a Japanese touch. Grouper in a Mediterranean way and duck with ras-el-hanout both followed before a chocolate delicacy completed the meal.Dear Maurits, Yes you can have a Conference meeting in a lot of unique locations but a ten minutes drive to our location and into another world is a chance you will find only in Maastricht. Sofa restaurant is located on the beautiful grounds of Kasteel De Hooghenweert, but not part of the same business group as the hotel. The Sofa restaurant has beautiful settings, both outdoor as indoor. It is a true pleasure to spend time here on dry summer afternoons and evenings. One day we had lunch and the next day dinner in the restaurantâs outdoor area. Quite a lot of people on both days, mix of locals and tourists, and you could tell that people did travel on purpose here. All food and wine we tried was delicious. Service very attentive, professional, while pleasantly informal. I would highly recommend this restaurant when in the Maastricht â Aachen â Liege area and planning a small detour.Thank you so much! What an experience! We went here with friends for a lunch (Snel&sjiek) and really enjoyed it. What a quality and location! A two-course lunch of outstanding quality with a glass of wine and coffee with sweets..... and that only for 31 per person. Make sure to reserve and you will enjoy it, and not only the food but also the chateau, the room and the garden. What an experience!! We will come again and.... again and again when we have the opportunity.
