Freeport Cafe

The Freeport Cafe has been a local favorite since 1952! We serve breakfast all day! We make our Muffins fresh daily. Many items are made from scratch! We offer Beer & Wine!

We stopped in on our annual trip to Acadia. The atmosphere is friendly and very casual. The lunch menu is not extensive, but the Cobb salad and chicken Cesar wrap were both excellent. Service was efficient, portion generous and prices reasonable.

I worked at a very busy diner style breakfast place on cape cod for ten years so I have somewhat high expectations for breakfast- i hope that someone from stones reads this as my comments are meant to be constructive. (1) temperature- We’ve been twice to Stones now. Both times the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. Today is a cool, rainy day and it was honestly 15 degrees cooler outside. The many fans and small ac units do not cut it. Invest in real AC installed by a company that understands restaurant ventilation. (2) coffee. It tastes like gasoline. The mugs are big and so cute. They need to be filled good coffee. (3) timing. Food takes FOREVER. We were a party of two and we waited 40 minutes from time of ordering for our basic breakfasts. That is simply unacceptable in a breakfast restaurant. Figure out what the problem is and solve it. It was a Sunday and was moderately busy but it should never ever take that long for an omelette. Our waitress basically admitted avoiding us because she knew our food was taking so long. (4) food. My omelette was small but decent. Homemade English muffins were good but no grape jelly and other jelly choices were mediocre. The fresh baked items are a plus and a differentiator for them versus other breakfast places near by. My husband loves the monster hash. (5) price is fine but more expensive than cole farms nearby which has good food, significantly faster service and ACSummary- for the price and the cons above I would say it’s not worth it but definitely has potential if mgmt focuses on fixing their issues.

Driving on I-295 north of Portland and discovered this wonderfully relaxing Yarmouth Coffee and Tea Cafe in contemporary style with a delicious array of coffees and teas, to be enjoyed overlooking a boating marina, with a d.j. playing vinyl record selections. They have food specials and an "Aperitivo" menu with small delicious plates. Also have lovely unique ceramics, and interesting clothing options. A great place to chill out for hours.

Sunrise Cafe

Traveling from Acadia National Park to Manchester, NH lunchtime hit about the time our party of three were near Freeport, ME. Checking TripAdvisor for a nearby place to eat that would also serve Breakfast all day- we found Sunrise Cafe.Being a small establishment, only one food server and one cook were on duty. Even so, Locals as well as Tourists were given friendly and speedy service. The special of the day included Haddock Chowder. You could order it by the cup or bowlful. I ordered the 1/2 Turkey Club Sandwich with the Cup of Haddock Chowder. The turkey was thick sliced and hearty. Not the paper thin deli slices. The Cup of chowder (yes, served in a coffee cup) was stock full of good sized bites of Haddock in a thin soup like consistency liquid that tasted of butter and milk and seasonings. It was really good and satisfying! If ordering sodas, you are given a glass with ice and a bottle of your soda. Our server was friendly and smiling even though she was really busy with customers.
