Sat out on the street, a shady spot to enjoy the Asian style buffet. Today there was an excellent variety of salads for starters, around six different ones plus salad leaves. Mains were also self service, the meats were duck and pork, mixed vegetables, prawn beignets, small spring rolls and mixed beignets, with rice and noodles. We also enjoyed desserts- an excellent nougat glace for me and cassis parfait for my wife. With a glass of rose each and coffee, the total bill of c£40 seemed very reasonable. A popular place and with good reason

Suite à une panne de voiture, nous nous sommes arrêté la ou nous étions à MIDI, c'est un self service, tout y était frais, l' ambiance était calme la nourriture était bonne,le gérant était attentionné, les prix corrects il y avait même un petit chocolat offert au dessert, il est vrai que c'était pâques.

I initially stumbled upon this restaurant by chance one busy summer evening. There were many choices of outdoor restaurants on this famous dining street (Rue Strasbourg in Chalon s/Saone) but the most welcoming seemed to be the Hong Kong with its original red coloured frontage and pretty tables outside.The owner was outside to greet us and she is an absolute joy with an incredible sense of humour.We ordered a degustation menu on this occasion which was superb and were persuded to wash this down with Chinese Rose wine which seemed a strange choice especially being in France. The Nem (spring rolls) were the best I have ever eaten and are of the type from Vietnam where I have eaten them many times.The crispy lacquered duck was a dream and the degustation of desserts was superb. Everything is authentically chinese and home made which is the charm of the restaurant.Over the past two years we have returned many times, initially to be charmed and entertained by the owner but also of course for the cuisine. The owner shared with us the restaurant has been there for more than 40 years and she never changes from the original family recipes as prepared by her granparents and parents. This is obvious in the quality of taste in the cuisine. The owner is also very happy to discuss special favourite dishes and more unusual chinese vegetables and fruits and wherever possible will procure and prepare them for clients on the next visit.For a special evening I highly recommend the Chinese Fondue washed down with a bottle of chinese red wine.Bon appetit!!
