The Salty Snapper

We (3 couples) arrived at 620 and had a wait of probably 30 mins which there were several empty tables. After being seated, it took an hour and a half for our food to arrive. We constantly had to ask for refills, silverware, checking status of food. We called manager to our table to make him aware of the situation and he never came back to let us know the status of our food. One entree finally came out, then after another 20 mins, 3 of our entrees arrived, then 10 mins later, the lady 2 entrees finally arrived. After all this trouble, we asked to speak with the manager one more time to give him a start to finish idea since our arrival to the restaurant. Instead of sincerely apologizing, he unfortunately made excuses for how busy the weekend has been and simply offered a “discount” on our meals, when we should have had at least one entree removed from each of our bills. Unfortunately, I can say we will not be back for a repeat of the salty snapper.

This will easily become a spot to stop while in Valdosta should we make our way back. They have an ecclectic take on breakfast fare that while not straying too far from traditional expectations, they provide a twist that lends to their uniqueness among the standard pedestrian dishes to which we have become accustomed to waking up and eating. For the first time I had restaurant avocado toast (substituted with sourdough vs. what I imagine is a very tasty whole grain) and eggs, scrambled light. My wife had their corned beef has with two over medium eggs and an english muffin. I was just about to dig in when the server returned with another plate of eggs, stating that the kitchen realized they sent out eggs that were over cooked (when I compared the two they were right..but not by some drastic difference). THEY TRIED TO CORRECT IT BEFORE THEY CAME OUT - A+ for being that aware on the front end. The coffee was solid; balanced flavor that required no accoutrement. They lean healthier, but they do not sacrifice flavor or what you expect if you were to, say, order a waffle. This was Sunday morning on toward the end of their first rush and just before the end of Sunday services. Either way, expect a wait that is worth it.Thanks so much, Edward! We truly value those five stars and appreciate you taking the time to share. Hope to see you again soon!

When you are charged $12 for a cocktail, it would seem that you didn't have to go to the bar, teach the bartender how to make it, sit down and have it served. Could you not get a break on the price? The food was average. The waitress was good but come one, if you hire a bartender, get one that is trained!

There is a restaurant side and sports bar side. We chose the sports bar side as we wanted to watch Monday night football. My husband had the 14oz strip steak and he said it was cooked perfect. I had the Santa Fe chicken and it was really good. Our adult beverages were made perfect. Great staff, great food and great atmosphere. If we were locals we would go often.

Everything about this place was great; the food, staff, simple atmosphere, etc.Not only was the fried chicken great but so was the crackling bread (I'd never had it before and now I need it), and collard greens.Everyone, including other customers, was friendly and accommodating. It's definitely worth a stop if anywhere near Valdosta.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch while traveling to Atlanta. It is about a mile from the interstate, but well worth the stop.I got the pulled pork sandwich while my wife had the Brunswick stew. They were both very excellent. My wife decided she wanted to drink milk with her meal and was very surprised by the size of the drink.I really liked the pulled pork sandwich and appreciated the variety of sauces on the table. Our server was very attentive.

It was first Friday in Valdosta, so I called to make a reservation. I was asked to name a time, so I suggested 7:00. I was told the earliest they could seat us was 7:45. We arrived at 7:43, just after two more couples. They were seated without a reservation and then we were told we needed to wait. When I suggested we might take our custom somewhere else, we were sat down outside and provided with a drink.Just after eight, we were invited inside and provided with a table. Our upbeat waitress told us that for our trouble our drink and dessert would be on the house. She proceeded to take our order. My wife asked for one of the specials and I said I would have the duck. This was at about 8:10. Ten minutes later, our waitress came back to inform us there was no more duck, so I opted for the catch of the day. After a further ten minutes, we were informed that more duck had been found. At 8:50, one of the couples who had arrived at the restaurant a minute before us left, having finished their meal—and I ordered a second pre-dinner drink. Finally, at 8:55, our entrees arrived. They were delicious. At about 9:20, the waitress asked about our desserts. My wife had the pecan pie special—and, at the waitress’s suggestion, I ordered the lime cheesecake. My wife also asked for a coffee. Five minutes later, the coffee arrived, but we had to wait for an additional 15 to 20 minutes for the desserts. Again, they were first rate.In the time we spent in the restaurant, we saw three sets of diners occupy the table next to us. It was just before 10:00 pm when we left.We do not expect to rush through our meal, and the leisurely progression of the evening would have been much more acceptable if our reservation had been honored in the first place. As it was, we began the evening grumpy and ended it not feeling much better.Would we return? Yes. However, I would make a reservation and ask on the phone if they would make sure it was a true reservation that would be applied when we arrived.Hi Cpenser, We remember you all, AND are very happy you decided to stay. First, I am very sorry for the blunder in seating it was as you saw a very busy evening and my manager accidentally sat your table with someone else and for that we apologize, as soon as you said your name she realized she boo boo'ed.... Reservations regularly run right on time so you should not experience that issue again in the future. As the owner I could not be prouder of how she handled her blunder as we are all human even in the restaurant business. From asking you to please stay (again, thank you) offering a cocktail and dessert and taking care of the bill for those, she also went and prepared your cocktails herself so there would be no wait at all, and making sure she checked on you once you arrived to your table. We have 3 motto's around here here first, If we don't get it right we make it right, second team work makes the dream work, and the third you are only as good as the worst plate you put out. I was running the kitchen, around 7:30 I had 83 tickets on my board and my Chefs were moving and not a single one of us stopped moving all night long (in a display kitchen with 6 burners) First rate food takes love, and I would rather it take a little longer than it normally does and have my chefs honor our standards. So I am very pleased you enjoyed all of your food even the elusive duck. I am very sorry for your issues, I am very proud of my team, and do hope you will visit us again.

My husband and I stopped in Valdosta while on a recent road trip. We looked around for non cookie-cutter places and decided to try 306 North. Best decision of our trip! We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting Harris. He provided terrific service and makes excellent cocktails. The Old Smoky and Pecan Pie Martinis are winners in anyone’s book. The food was delicious. We decided to have a series of appetizers for our meal. These consisted of the cheese plate, duck bruschetta and parmesan crusted oysters. Everything was so well put together and provided layers of flavors. We also had the pecan tart for dessert – another winner. We would love to visit again. And from our observation of what appeared to be many local regulars, it is a favorite of many in the area. Well done 306 North – 5 stars all the way!
