We wanted a nice sit-down dinner on our last night of a long Steelers weekend. Steak & seafood are both featured here & we had a little of both. Our waitress connected with us immediately -- it was a quiet Sunday evening. She was welcoming & carefully explained the menu, each unique item & especially appreciated -- she said the sides should be plentiful if we had 2 -3. The shrimp was a preparation I had never had, swordfish was meaty, steak & lobster rocked ! Lemon drop martinis added bonus as the bartender had a heavy hand.

We had a nice dinner here. We did not have a reservation, so they sat us the bar area. It was comfortable there, and we had a lovely waiter. Food was good, but a bit pricey for what it is. We were celebrating our anniversary, so the waiter brought us a free creme brûlée, which was very nice.

Four family members (including two of us from out of town) dined here on a Tuesday evening in mid-September.Good martinis at a reasonable cost ($13) and drinks. We wanted an Oregon Pinot Noir with dinner and were a little surprised by the prices â lowest price was $65, and most were $100 or more. We asked for the waitress suggestion for one, considering the meals we ordered for our main course. The best she could say was âthis one is very popularâ. We were surprised that she was not more knowledgeable, but she was young. She didnât offer to find the sommelier (probably wasnât one). So, our suggestion is to bring your own wine.Other than this faux pas, the service was professional and courteous.The restaurant prides itself on local and fresh ingredients (obviously some items are flown in, e.g., oysters), with a menu that changes daily. We were pleased with all of our servings (scallops, oysters, crab cakes, tuna tartare, beef tenderloin and lamb loin). Dessert was equally good.We were seated in a booth on the ground floor, easy to hold a conversation among us as the tables and booths are well spaced.We recommend this restaurant overall for good food, quality drinks, professional service and ambiance but it is expensive for Pittsburgh. And definitely bring your own wine.

Loved the vibe of this place....great lighting and style for a pleasant evening. The service from our waiter was top notch....efficient, friendly but not intrusive. My husband couldnât stop talking about his pesto pasta dish and my pizza was delicious. Well worth a visit if visiting Pittsburgh.

With the popularity of farm-to-table, global cuisine, boutique restaurants, sometimes the classic steakhouse gets overlooked. While I seek out small, creative, independently owned restaurants, sometimes I just want a good old steak. Capital Grill is one if my favorites in any city and the Pittsburgh location did not disappoint. My husband and I only sit at the bar when dining out. This is a nice size bar with that old steakhouse feel. Our bartender was great and we enjoyed a couple of cocktails before opening a bottle of wine to air out before dinner. We had calamari for an appetizer and it was excellent. My husband and I each had a ribeye steak, cooked perfectly rare and shared the lobster Mac & cheese. It was a great meal and great experience. Highly recommend!

The experience was different and exciting. I did not know what to expect and really enjoyed it. You choose your fondue first and get a bunch of snacks to dip it in. Next, you get two different broths to cook your entrees in which were all tasty. Lastly, dessert fondue of course! Yummmm! Our waiter Alex was amazing! He made the night so enjoyable. He was great at recommendations and very personable. I highly recommend checking this place out!The fondue experience is certainly different and exciting, and we are glad that you enjoyed your time with us. The custom sheet was great and I took advantage of it. Itâs not easy to find a solid elk burger! I wish there was an explanation of what the rubs were as I completely picked at random but otherwise, great. Hell, even the organic greens salad was great.

We live 300 yards from this restaurant and always thought it was excellent. Our last few visits have changed our mind. The atmosphere and service are almost always very good. But the food has become ok while the price is still high. In the past the meat courses were exceptional , but not any more. They are fine, not great. It is disappointing to us. Hopefully they might return to their glowing past.

We decided a couple nights before that we'd like to try the MBFG. However, we were unable to get a reservation on a Saturday night until later than we'd like (after 8:45 pm). We checked back a couple of times and ended up getting a 7:15 reservation. We drove up Grandview Ave early evening to check out the view from the look out area. It's as awesome as you may have seen it described. It was still early and we decided to go into the restaurant and see if we could be seated before our reservation. Fortunately, they have a nice lounge area with tables near the windows so we could have a drink and enjoy the view. We ended up eating our meal in the lounge and it worked out great. My recommendation is that if you're unable to get a reservation arrive early and try to get a seat at one of the tables in the lounge. You can order off the same menu as the dining room. The view may be a bit more spectacular in the dining area because the windows are floor to ceiling, but the view in the lounge is also great. The dress code is pretty relaxed. Now for the food. Everything was excellent. I had the Halibut prepared with the pineapple butter and it was the best I've ever had. Slightly spicy and the fish was very tender and juicy. My husband enjoyed the lemon Sole and my son ordered the filet. This was one of our best meals and completely worth the price. BTW, the prices are similar to other fine seafood and steak places in other large cities. Thank you for your insightful review. I could not agree more with you that our lounge is a fantastic option for when we are heavily booked in our main dining room. Thrilled that you and your family were able to enjoy our restaurant while in town.
