Henni's Kitchen & Bar

Located in downtown White Salmon, WA

Reviewed By Alverda3

My friends and I spent the evening in White Salmon and thought this restaurant had a lot of charm from the outside. The atmosphere is quite nice and there is an inviting bar in the place, too. The menu is varied, with burgers, curry, steak, fish and chips and an assortment of small plates and desserts. My companions had the Henni burger and both thought it was quite tasty, though a bit large to put in your mouth. They thought the burgers were 1/2 pounders and were loaded with all kinds of condiments. The fries were quite good and perfectly cooked for being the shoestring kind. I had the Goa curry and while quite filling, was nothing particularly special. I did order their pear hot toddy which I recommend. It was warmly soothing with a hint of cloves. For dessert we ordered (as per the recommendation of our waitress) the Malva pudding. The slice was large enough for the 3 of us and reminded us of plum pudding. This is a dense, buttery cake with whipped cream and really good!Service was a little slow. Our server was friendly and informed, but she disappeared for long periods of time when we needed more water. It did seem to take quite awhile to get our drinks delivered to the table. Overall, we had a nice experience and I would like to return to try other dishes.

On a Friday evening, the place was packed with locals and people visiting. Very good and friendly atmosphere. Interesting selection of beers and ciders. I opted for a "Hop Lion" with a small version of Buffy pizza which was already big enough ! We’ve been a fan of this place before it moved across the river because they used wonderful local fruits and vegetables in a wide array of cooking styles. This hasn’t changed at all. We started the meal with their hand cut truffle fries then moved on to an heirloom tomato peaches toast with a unique goat cheese and herb spread. We then ate one of their pizzas, Cremini Mushroom and goat cheese with a sprinkling of mozzarella pizza. It was loaded with mushrooms but I just didn’t think the crust was terrific. It needed to remain a wee bit longer in the brick oven. And perhaps a bit more mozzarella. My only other complaint and this is a problem with many Hood River restaurants, they are not air conditioned. On a stifling hot minimal breeze evening like last night sitting on their outside eating area was miserable. But eating indoors probably as bad. And when we left after 9 pm the place was still packed!

Bette’s is a good diner style restaurant for breakfast. A few of us met for breakfast on the last day of a get together we had in Hood River. Since people were leaving for airports and road trips, we appreciated the quick service along with the good food. I enjoyed the crab Benedict, and I don’t remember any complaints from anyone else about their food!

My best friend Gail and I were there for a long girly weekend. The Riverside far surpassed our expectations. Service, Food, atmosphere were all spot on. Happy Hour was a delight, and the selections were plentiful. The salads were large and the dinners were exceptional. I had the Wedge and Steak and seasonal veg, all off the Happy Hour Menu. Outstanding. Fresh, tender meat, veggies cooked to perfection. But breakfast was off the charts. Poached pear, maple pecan French toast that was not too sweet and melted in your mouth. The Short Rib Hash was just delicious and had a lot of very tender pieces of meat cooked just right. Onions, peppers, and potatoes were also delicious. The coffee was wonderful and the Pumpkin Spice Mule drink I had was a favorite. The views of the Gorge spectacular. Highly recommend this place. Will definitely be going back. And bonus. If you stay at The Best Western Plus in Hood River, you get breakfast for free!!!Dear Sherri L,We appreciate your generous and detailed review. Thank you for taking the time to submit it. We are ecstatic to hear how much enjoyed your meals with us at Riverside and Happy Hour at Cebu. We hope you enjoyed your long girls weekend, and that you're able to join us again in the future!

Visited this charming little town just across the Columbia River from Hood River Oregon. The pub is in a relatively new/updated location...very spacious and comfortable. Not terribly hungry so split a chicken gyro...and just as well we split...quite a large serve, delicious french fries. Although tempted by the chance of tasting the 5 beer flight, we were driving in the afternoon so stuck with a tasting size pilsner and lager...both delicious. Will have to return and overnight in town so we can taste the full (and large) range of beers
