Maison Rives, dating back to before the French Revolution, has a history as fascinating as Montolieu itself. The furnishings in all the rooms compliment perfectly the natural light pouring through the windows. Whether your view is over the bridge and the Alzeau Gorge or down a village street, all our rooms are spacious, light and airy and have en-suite facilities. Enjoy breakfast downstairs in the salon, where we can help you plan your day or find your way if you wish. We also propose diner on Monday to Friday, and brunch on Sunday (only for advanced bookings).

Reviewed By Eleonore777Lovely house and village. The owners are also related to the book tradition in the village by a book shop and as editors. Try the restaurant beside. It is a simple one but great by serving organic home made food related to the region.

Chateau de Villeneuve is hidden at the foot of the Black Mountain. In a rural environment of exception, in Cathar country, at the edge of its vineyards and with its gastronomy, we would be delighted to welcome you and make you enjoy charms of the castle for a weekend, a week or a night.
Lovely Château with charming hosts
Reviewed By peterfin1Although a little difficult to find, once arrived we were very pleased with the welcome and the Château itself. A fine old building now run as a chambres d’hôtes, and offering well proportioned accommodation at an affordable price. The room we had was clean and well equipped and we had no problem with the WiFi. The swimming pool was lovely with space to sit and relax. The dinner served was excellent and filing and the breakfast in the morning was excellent too. A very nice stay with charming hosts.

Maison de Mallast is a large historic house, offering chambres d'hôtes (B&B), as well as a 2-bedroom apartment, Gîte de Mallast in a charming medieval village near Carcassonne. We offer a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and a beautiful garden in the centre of Montolieu, the 'village of books', with all its amenities within just a few steps. Beneath our 12th century house and Gîte de Mallast lie the remains of Chateau de Mallast, the fortress which protected the village and its inhabitants from invasion from the 5th to 12th centuries! We serve breakfast either on our garden view terrace or in the dining room where once a French president dined! Steps lined with ancient wisteria lead down to the tranquil garden, where there are lovely sunny and shady places to sit and relax! Our seasonal Restaurant de Mallast offers opportunities to sample wonderful regional produce and wines indoors in winter and either on the terrasse or in the large garden in summer.

Topped off with a perfect double espresso The starters are a set of three then a choice of main and a choice of sweets. Good selection of wine to finish Well worth a visit

Lovely last minute find!
Reviewed By markreedersLovely quiet and peaceful campsite. The pitches are large and have trees and high hedges to provide shade and privacy. The amenities are very clean. There is a drive over waste drain, chemical waste, EHU and two water supply taps. There is also free WiFi that we found to be very good and a swimming pool about a 5 minute walk away. You can use this for the full day and costs 3 Euros! Owner speaks very good English. Recommended.

Holiday like it's meant to be
Reviewed By Erik LBeautiful decorated mansion in nice small village. Bart and Marieke are the perfect host and are truly welcoming you to your house and encouraging you to take full advantage of it. The appartements are spacious and nicely decorated with a mix of brocante, design and functional and comfortable furniture, we really felt like coming home. The garden is seperated from the house by a small river, but bridged from the terrace. Spacious and lots of privacy. Car is in secured parking. Book the breakfast and table d'hote when the offer it (normally twice a weak) .. it's so much worth it. My first reflex was to keep this hidden gem for ourselves, but then you realize this can only be accomplished if other book it and the owners get return on their huge investments. Well done. One of my seldom 5 stare rattings truly deserved, we'll be back!

We are located in the South of France, close to Carcassonne, in a small, Medieval village called Montolieu, which also happens to be a famous booktown with numerous bookstores and art galleries. We transformed a former 19th century village café into a cosy, elegant B&B with restaurant and tearoom. The entire building was renovated inside and out in 2005 so that it has both the charm of the past and the comfort of the present.

Reviewed By arbitraWe have dined here several times and never been disappointed.This is a family run restaurant excellent service and great value for your money.The kitchen is on full view to the clientele always a plus sign for me.l would recommend this restaurant for couples or families as there always seems to be a mixture of both.
