Having spent two weeks in the countryside eating mutton, it was a delight to find this small vegan restaurant in the streets of Ulaanbaatar. Not only was the food good, it was very cheap. A vegan burger and chips, and veggie spaghetti bolognaise came to 25,000MNT (around $9.50). The restaurant is two rooms in an older style building. Service was certainly friendly although had to wait around 15 minutes for the food to come out. Well worth the 10 minute walk down here from the Holiday Inn.

It’s a good restaurant with plenty of sitting options. We were there for lunch, price is reasonable. They have English menu. We had meat platter, fried fish, egg fried rice & salad. All foods were good. We had tour guide with us & she translated our need to waitress. They don’t bring drinks for all at the same time & same for food, whatever is ready they bring it first. It’s probably like this in Mongolia, i have noticed it in another restaurants too. They forgot about one of our meal, two meals came to the table with a big gap in between, we thought they were preparing the third meal (3 of us were there), 2 of us almost finished our food, third meal was not there yet, we reminded them twice and at last it came. As they forgot about it, provided a complementary fried rice. Also forgot to give utensils! The service is very bad but the food is good.

The breakfasts here were good. The usual buffet, albeit small, but there was an egg station and good cold choices: cereals, pastries and selection of breads to toast. They are also well set up to allow people to take pastries away (brown bags). Our one niggle was when we tried to go for dinner one night only to find that the restaurant was effectively booked for a private group and that we would have to go to the Tapas bar to eat, albeit with the same menu. No-one had thought to advise us that this was the case not even leave a note on the door of the restaurant. The staff’s limited English meant that we could not get a reasonable explanation from them so we had to ask the front desk staff who quickly explained the situation. Once that was cleared up the dinner we had was nice and tasty and very much welcomed after our 3 day in country trip.
