We would have given 6 stars if possible. Restaurant recently moved to this new location from the Fondren area of Jackson. Nice decor. superb charbroiled oysters with toasted bread for dipping- wow! Specialty cocktails rocked! The waiter recommended the small plate items on the menu and all 4 were superb. I personally loved the beef carpaccio people - worth a try! Their take on oyster Bao was yummy too. Will be back many times!!

I stopped n Labor Day at the outside bar. It was very nice views of the reservoir and had a tropical like atmosphere. Lots of friendly people and servers. The food was good and reasonably priced. I would recommend the outside bar because of the atmosphere!Hi, Norman! We really appreciate these compliments. Thank you for taking the time to let us know that you enjoyed our view, atmosphere, service, and food! Thank you, also, for recommending our tiki bar. We really like eating at Drago's in Jackson. The charbroiled oysters are delicious. A lot of good choices on the menu. I had the redfish with crabmeat which was cooked to perfection. My wife had the Cobb salad. We had bread pudding for dessert. Good food at reasonable prices

Service was poor, and that’s being generous. The server was more interested in conversing with who I can only assume was her boyfriend or love interest. The food was ok, but they got 1 out of 2 orders wrong. The pricing was high for what they were serving which was surprising. Would have complained, but the single time the server came to the table after taking the order was to drop off the check. The management wasn’t interested in the customers at all, rather he stayed at the register the whole time. I hope it gets better, but I won’t go back until they’ve got some experience under their belts.

My family and I went to the Mermaid Cafe for a casual birthday dinner. It did not disappoint! Started with creamy spinach artichoke dip with crispy buttered croutons. I had the redfish with lemon caper butter sauce. The sauce was silky smooth with wonderful briny capers. We finished with bread pudding, a Southern favorite. It was a delicious, relaxing evening. The wait staff was attentive and the ambiance comfortable! We will return, I’m sure.

My niece and I drove into town from Georgia late one Tuesday evening and were treated just as well as the customer who showed up when the doors first opened that day. We both ordered the catfish whichis always served with coleslaw, fries, pickled onions and buttery, homemade cornbread. Man oh man! We also ordered a small pot of collard greens to go with our meal. Good eats all around! I am never disappointed when I visit. You wont be either! Oh! Don't be put off by the tin plates and tin cups. It just adds to the aura of this southern eatery.

Visited for some drinks and appetizers after work, they had a great atmosphere and drink selection. Wasn't the easiest to find, no signs around showing you had to go upstairs for them. Service and food were just average at best, as we went long times in between them visiting the table. For the experience and the food felt it is very overpriced. Might give it another try but wouldn't rush back.Ted, thank you for your review. We regret to hear you were not fully satisfied with your visit. Our staff errs on the side of restraint to allow guests to enjoy conversation without feeling rushed. If there are any specific reasons you did not enjoy your meal, please reach out to us in a message to discuss.

My husband and I took my mother out for dinner here and she enjoyed the dynamic shrimp dishes. She and my husband love shrimp. My husband had the rib eye with a house salad. I ordered a salad also and one of the nightly specials which I didn't care for so I loaded up on bread salad and drinks since it was happy hour. My mom enjoyed herself and also had dessert the brownies and icecream. Everything was fine.
