Country Fisherman

My group of 35 had planned to stop at national chain buffet restaurant. We called ahead for service. When we arrived we found out that it would be and extended wait for a group of hungry individuals. We decided to leave. We went to another national country store/restaurant. Another extended wait. Two ladies were standing near the entrance. I asked them for a recommendation of a buffet restaurant for a large group. They both quickly agreed on the Country Fisherman on Highway 80 in Jackson (MS).We got back on our bus, I called ahead and told them we were 15 minutes away and wanted to know if they could accommodate us. The receptionist immediately told us yes they could. When we arrived they had already set tables for us. The young male waiter immediately seated us and took our drink offers. My group was immediately impressed with the buffet. The presentation of the food was carefully laid out. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant to deal with. The food was delicious. Most people in my group said they would definitely come back again..soon! Our waiter was exceptional in attending our needs. I had traveled to Jackson many times before, but had never heard of the Country Fisherman. I STRONGLY recommend this restaurant. The food was hot and fresh, and the facility was clean. If you like buffet food You will not be disappointed.

Was taken there for a Sunday buffet lunch. Small selection which included fried chicken and roast beef. It was basically southern food, so I suppose I was expecting something more elegant given the name of the establishment. Food quality was good though.

Have been coming here for years based on a recommendation in the late 1990’s. Love it. The staff is always great and service always wonderful. Family friendly atmosphere. Not the greatest part of town. Steaks, flounder, snapper, shrimp is-bob, and frog legs are on time good. Love the down home style of this local eatery.

Got in after 9PM, tired and wandered in for a snack and really enjoyed the food and the scene. The staff was professional and attentive. Food was fresh, well prepared and presented. Could not have been any better. Patrons were friendly and a lot seemed to be local. Good way to avoid going out and still get a good meal. Other customers near by had shrimp sandwich and what looked like mac and cheese and each seemed to enjoy their food. The barmaid mentioned she had been there 7 years and looked like a real pro in mixing cocktails. There was a crowd on the outside patio adjacent to the bar that seemed to very friendly.

We went here based on reviews and were pleased. Ignore the gas station setting and go in!!! Gumbo was excellent (crab bodies included) and their shrimp tacos were both excellent!! They have an active take-out business and offer coupons for return trips. We’ll be back and use that coupon!!

This was exactly the casual, reasonably priced seafood stop my son and I needed midway through our trip back north. You order at a window and then go sit down. The place was chilly, so in the off-season bring in a jacket. He had never tried crawfish and loved them. We also got boiled shrimp and gumbo. Both were very good. I especially liked that the gumbo was not loaded with rice, had just enough. It's BYOB, and we saw several groups coming in with coolers. If I lived there I would definitely hang out with friends to watch sports. We will make a point to stop there on future trips to NOLA.

Customer service was horrible, the waiter became rude, simple because I asked about a side salad. Not one time did I get a refill, nor the parent that was waiting on their son to enlist. They refilled everyone around us, and keep walking past my empty cup. Paying bill, the gentleman at the counter refused acknowledge my hand out, laying my ticket on the counter, as well as ink pen. As we walked out, his response was, I see why I left the south. ☹️

We really like eating at Drago's in Jackson. The charbroiled oysters are delicious. A lot of good choices on the menu. I had the redfish with crabmeat which was cooked to perfection. My wife had the Cobb salad. We had bread pudding for dessert. Good food at reasonable prices

Time for lunch in Jackson, MS....love the inside space of this restaurant...they have a dog friendly patio, inside bar and plenty of tables inside with light coming thru the windows.. love this. So many choices on the menu that it was hard to choose, but our waiter Alex was very helpful. Love his energy and he was right - the beer battered fish was awesome, as the veggies that we ordered with it. Definitely a must on our next visit!!Hello, Thank you for the five stars! My wife and I regularly eat at Walker’s when in Jackson and we are never disappointed. This time we each had the Hereford beef filet with sides of mashed potatoes, asparagus, sautéed spinach and crunchy onion “strings”. Simply splendid. Though stuffed we could not pass up the fried fig pie and fig pecan cake, both out of this world. The food, combined with top notch service, make this restaurant a true star.
