We stopped at the KFC while on a trip. Only one employee was visible, and she was sweeping the floor. We waited at the counter for a while, and finally she came over and asked if we were ready to order. I ordered a small snack pack with a leg & thigh. When I picked up the thigh, I saw the underside of my crispy coating wasn't well cooked & was gooey & slimy. I checked the inside, and the meat next to the bone wasn't cooked. I told the cashier, and she did not say one word, just stood and stared at me. When we were leaving, I brought my plate to the counter and showed her my uncooked food and explained it was dangerous to serve raw chicken. The cashier never said a word, just stood and stared at me. I told her the least she could do was apologize. We left. My stomach was upset all day.

Another quick stop on our adventure to Disney! A bathroom stop turned into bite to eat. Om: I was thinking that Ward’s was kind of a small town thing, but as we kept driving I saw numerous other locations. I wasn’t that hungry, so I got a cheeseburger and Nom and I shared some onion rings. Cheeseburger was good but ordinary, looks like they slapped a piece of cold cheese on the burger after it was done, it was not even melted. Onion rings were really good though, they were cooked well and had a crunchy batter. Ward’s was fine for a quick stop on a trip, but not somewhere that I would go out of my way for. Still, a memory that Nom and I shared on our long drive to Florida!Nom: This was an interesting stop and I love small town places to eat. Sometimes you find a real treat! This is a small town chain that looks like they used an old McDonald’s or Whataburger. I just had some onion rings that we shared but they were really kind of tasty, not someplace I’d wait to reach on a road trip but a great memory created with my handsome love!Overall, a completely average experience - the onion rings were really tasty, but everything else screamed "just ok".

The food itself is not awful, however, it doesn't matter if you order a biscuit to go or whatever its most elaborate meal is, it will STILL take 45 minutes before you have your food in front of you. It's just amazing how inept the staff is here.

It's a Krystal - so you know what you're getting. The food is good as is the case with all Krystals. However, the wait staff must train at Huddle House. The Wife is not from Mississippi and had never tried a Krystal before. Wanting to turn her on to the wonderful treat known as a Krystal Burger, I pulled into this joint. I told her to order 6 krystals while I pumped the gas and bought a few drinks for the road. After I accomplished this, I went to the restroom right next to the Krystal. When I came out, I found she was still standing there, with no one in line, and no one had taken her order. This is just a single example and could be brushed off as a one time screw up, but I've been put off by the long wait times myself more than once at this particular Krystal. It's ridiculous when there are only 3 people in the entire restaurant and you can't get anyone to take your order. I hope the manager reads this.

This restaurant was recommended by the desk clerk at the Best Western Plus. She said the town has really needed a nice place like this. I understand it just opened about 3 weeks ago, and I think they've really got their act together. I like the decor and atmosphere in this former bank building on the little Main Street, thus the name. The place was full of patrons on a Wednesday night. I appreciated being able to substitute out a potato choice in favor of broccoli and a side salad with my grilled shrimp dinner. My husband had the ribeye steak, which although cut a bit thin, it was only $19. They have wine, and although just the one chardonnay choice, I enjoyed it. When traveling we always eat in independently owned restaurants, never chains, so that we can experience the local flavors and cuisines, and support the local guys. This was a good visit and we appreciated the owner coming by to talk with us. It was worth the 6 minute drive into town off the highway.

Like the reviewer prior, we too wanted to try Becky's, but no luck, and Berry's wasn't open either. So we settled for Popeye's, next to our hotel, HIX. Drive-through was just a little slow, but maybe the folks in front of us just couldn't decide what to order. Drive-through attendant was very friendly and smiley. Chicken was hot and excellent. Sides (rice, beans) were good. Total cost for both meals was around $10. Too easy. The only thing missing was a bag to hold the two meal containers, which would have made it less awkward to hold in the car and take up to our hotel room. And for those wondering which company supplies chicken to Popeye's: While we were ordering, a Tyson Chicken truck pulled in and began to unload. Popeye's is along a strip filled with fast-food, a Walmart, and gas stations, which was surprising, as Magee is a small town.

We found Becky's on Trip Advisor & we're not disappointed!!! Lots of variety on the menu. Excellent catfish sandwich, bacon cheeseburger (huge), potato salad, fried okra, tater tots (no, we couldn't eat it all). Becky & staff very friendly. Also very inexpensive! It is off the beaten path but worth the excursion (just a few country miles off Hwy 49). Highly recommend for some good eatin'!!! BTW, most people appeared to be regulars & take out. We are on her picnic tables (OK today because not too sunny/hot. )

Waitress was great . Polite and friendly. I think her name was Xema - Latin for precious. May be wrong but a great person. I had the Zip Burger and Onion rings. Just fabulous. Not fast food more mom and pop style. You get a chance to try it, you won’t be sorry.

Berry's Seafood and Catfish House

No website. This is one of, I believe, two locations in MS. One of the best seafood buffets I've ever been to. High quality selections. Great service. I would highly recommend it. Family friendly.

Reviewed By Joyzinha

I am really not a huge fan of buffets. But I will make an exception for Berry’s. My husband and I are traveling and really just stumbled upon this restaurant. We arrived at supper time on a Wednesday. We ordered the buffet which is only $14.95. The amount of fresh vegetables alone is worth the price. I had green beans, speckled butter beans, greens, and cabbage. And hush puppies, fried shrimp, fried okra, fried green tomatoes. Then I couldn’t resist the boiled shrimp. I didn’t try the salad bar. Oh yeah I had some fried chicken and a taste of my husbands made from scratch mashed potatoes. I am sad that I couldn’t eat the yeast rolls because by the time I saw them I was too full. There are too many yummy desserts to mention here. The food is like the old fashioned church “pot lucks”. Which actually goes with their theme of Christianity. They are not afraid to exhibit their love for Jesus. Back to the food...I ate so much that I need a nap. Thank goodness my husband is driving!
