Unsafe and filthy!

Reviewed By mrwheels12

Words cannot express the unsafe and unsanitary conditions of the rooms. Do not be fooled by the bright LED lit lobby as the rooms are old, filthy dirty and unsafe! Lets start with the first room they gave us. After walking in right away my wife sees a roach on the floor board. I know things like this happen sometimes so I step on it and we move on. As I do my obligatory room check for weirdos I look in the bathroom, closets and under the bed. Then I go check the sliding door to the patio and its unlocked! (Note we are on the first floor facing the back of the hotel looking at the parking lot to the property next door) So I make sure I lock the door and put on the chain latch. Does house keeping check the sliding doors? Maybe they just missed this one. (Stay tuned). So its time to go to dinner. We leave the room and close the door my wife checks to make sure the door is locked and it opens up. What? We close it again and without the key card just opens up. I tell my wife to go in the room and secure the deadbolt and I can still open the door without a key card! WTF! Go to the front desk the agent is on the phone by the business center and I let her know the issue. She gives us a new room. Now we no longer have a connecting room to my kids who were staying in the room next door. Makes me think who were the poor people who stayed in our room before not knowing the door was unlocked the entire time! Has anyone been robbed in that room recently? Well back to the second room. We check the room out locks work this time! But when I checked the sliding door again unlocked! An we are on the first floor facing the street! Know this is not a coincidence! Someone is setting up guest to be robbed! No once else has my level of OCD to check every last detail. How many guest did not check the sliding door and has anyone been robbed while away from their room! Tired and hungry we lock the sliding door and go to dinner. Back from dinner its time to get ready for bed. Pull off the top sheet on the bed and its covered in little dog hairs! WTF! That was the final straw! We check out and do not stay the night! I tell the front desk girl and again busy on a personal phone call she was pretty irritated that I was bothering her night. I asked her for her managers card and requested she have her call me in the morning. He response " you have her card you can call her". Sum it all up unsafe, dirty and employees who do not care. Stay away from this hotel. I stay at Holiday Inns all the time. I am not a 5 star hotel snob. A hair in the sink or tub does not bother me. But the experience I had here by far the worst I have experienced in my life! I have been a IHG member since 2002!

Problem is with basic amenities. The beds are not firm, very squishy. Also the beds are approximately 12” higher than a normal one. Unless you are six feet tall very hard to get into. Step stools not provided by management. Also, no chair in room, just an extended lounge chair that need to crawl into in order to use it. Breakfast is complimentary and VG. Similarly, service is prompt and VG. View from room toward large pond is excellent.

Not great

Reviewed By nikkisapp

The facility and the rooms are old and in need of updating. The room itself was clean except for the carpet which was old and dirty. Badly in need of an update. Very convenient access from the freeway and reasonable priced for the area. Would not stay here again unless really trying to economize. Just shabby and unappealing.

Clean, bright room with lots of windows to let in light(window shades for each also). Really nice staff! Well maintained property. The only downside was the road noise but we brought ear plugs luckily so we slept great! 100% recommend.

The perfect fusion of charm and luxury

Reviewed By Jalor8

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. Delighted. If you love charm and nature, this is for you. We stayed in the Penthouse suite for the first part of our week. It was previously booked for the weekend so the last 2 nights of our trip we stayed in a king deluxe room. Both rooms were so beautifully appointed and luxuriously comfortable. The penthouse suite has a spa shower and bath to die for. The personal deck, the kitchenette. I felt like royalty. The penthouse suite does have an A frame ceiling so just be aware in some corners if you're tall. The king deluxe room- has the most delightful deck. The fireplace in the room added such functional aesthetic. It was a win. The location was perfect. So easy to get to CA 101 and connect to everything. Yet the town of mill valley offered so much of its own, you didn't have to go anywhere. One last note: We had a minor miscommunication on charges while there and the attention to the matter was immediate and professionally handled with courtesy and genuine care. I was won over by the small town attentiveness, the smiling faces, and royalty treatment. Will recommend highly.

"Fixed" View by Massacring Trees; Fraudulent Charges on Bill

Reviewed By johnstoncaroline

*Outside our window was a forest. The trees had been chopped off at about 20 feet from the ground presumably to provide a view. Shocking. *Breakfast was unimpressive. Tepid croissant with cold butter, factory cheesecake. We were given a paper to sign for the meal (ostensibly to attach it to our room tab) on which we were "reminded" that the breakfast was "complimentary". This is a supposedly nice hotel and breakfast was INCLUDED. It was suggested that we tip. We declined to do so. *We received a statement in our email after the visit which included extra charges. I queried the charges. The statement was reissued indicating that we had tipped $10 for breakfast. This is not only ludicrous but in fact theft. *As noted in many reviews here, the place is tired. It is very cheeky for such a tired place --with ugly features such as an outside metal elevator and dingy carpets, and bizarre elements such as a bathtub with a window into the bedroom (!?)--to charge $300 a night. *This place should either go through a total makeover and emerge as a true boutique hotel where you can splurge on a pampering weekend, or mellow out and become an affordable hostel. Instead, it's in between. Clearly the proprietors don't care to get repeat business--they just rely on people being fooled by the website or really wanting to stay on Mt. Tam. *Due to the age of the hotel, maybe, walls were thin and pipes were loud. Despite the fact there were few guests our sleep was disturbed when the people next to us were on the phone and others used the water. *The location is the only thing the place has going for it. *To summarize: a beautiful forest of trees was brutally butchered in order to provide a view from the hotel deck; and the hotel is trying to charge us for a tip we did not authorize. Cheap and tacky, and a desecration of the glorious forest.
