Michigan Villas | Places to Stay in Michigan

Think you need an ocean for a beach? Think again. There are miles and miles of sandy lakefront beaches in Michigan (thanks to the four Great Lakes that border it). The west coast of Michigan has especially nice beaches—try a rental in Muskegon, Grand Haven or Saugatuck. You won’t need a car when visiting Mackinac Island. In fact, they’re not allowed—this lovely Victorian resort town is pedestrian-only.

Great little place with BEACH ACCESS. We stayed in Cottage #11. Our hosts/landlords were wonderful; friendly and attentive. It offers a laid back atmosphere. Our cottage included a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Everything is very clean. Window AC and pedestal fan is really all you need. We did not cook or do the fire pit thing at the location, but many of our "neighbors" did and it was a very collegial, but quiet vibe. The beach access is superb and we spent a lovely afternoon sunning and swimming. It is about a 15 minute walk to downtown Traverse City. Just enough to work off all the wine, beer, and good eats. Would highly recommend and would come back!

Fabulous inn - but not for everyone

If you are good with sharing bathrooms, no TV, and monk-size single rooms, this is the place for you. You will get friendly service and two meals per day cooked for you. The water at your toes. Paradise.

nice rooms with full bathrooms in each, 24 hour access to refreshing pool, fishing on the canal, hot tub, and sauna. we had a blast. hosts are helpful and informative but not watching or clinging to you. i almost hate to write such a good review because i don't want more people to find it, but at the same time they deserve the credit!

Nice stay

Reviewed By tandr321

Our entire family rented the cottages the week of August 2nd. I rented the 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage and there was plenty of room, the beds were comfortable and the cottage had everything you could possibly need. I loved that each cottage had it's own deck with patio furniture and grill. The only downside to these cottages is that there is no view of the lake and if you have little kids, it's hard to not worry when they leave your cottage to go to another one because the layout isn't open. You can't see the other cottages from yours and there are a lot of tree's, etc. The owners were very nice and easy to work with, very accommodating.

Very nice choice for a family trip

Reviewed By Ann F

ThE Vintage View provided a lovely home base for a most relaxing vacation. The two bedroom apt was just the right size and we were able to make use of the pool each day. Sara and Fred were most responsive to any of our needs. The location is great. Because we like to cook some meals, we could have used a big spaghetti pot and a few more coffee mugs. The furniture in our room neededa bit of loving care and some plumbing concerns. But these are small suggestions to a really good choice for lodging.
