Diverse menu, helpful wait staff, good food, contemporary ambience, and convenient location. Went with two others; we all had different entrees, and all were good to very good. My wife really enjoyed her cobb salad, for example. The restaurant does not take reservations so be prepared for a wait if you can in the evening on the weekends.

Tucked away in a strip mall in the little town of Auburn is a great restaurant. It's close to MBS airport. Clean, bright and good food. It's often difficult to find a good breakfast with low fat. The scrambled egg and dry toast was delicious - I've never found this anywhere else. My husband had the egg sandwich which he orders at many restaurants and he liked it. Pleasant staff and lots of locals. We'll come back again.

O's Pub & Grill

Me and my wife have passed through Auburn so many times but never had the chance to stop at O’s. One lazy Sunday we had a chance to. Boneless and Bone in wings were on special for 55 cents each. We got 13 Parmesan garlic and 13 Buffalo boneless wings. The place was pretty busy for a Sunday. The workers were doing a very good job with keeping up with everyone tho. Drinks were taken care of promptly. Our food came out rather fast I thought for how many people were there. 12 minutes or so. The garlic Parmesan has a great flavor and the Buffalo was just the right amount of heat while still obtaining a good flavor. Both orders had a real nice light batter and a good crunch to them. We had to ask for ranch and some celery to go with them. One thing I really loved about O’s is they didn’t nickel and dime you to death on your bill. Two ranch dipping sauces and a hefty amount of the crispest celery I have ever had was free. That’s how it should be if I’m ordering wings. But so many places charge you for every tiny extra thing now days. I appreciate finding a place that doesn’t do that. Katie W was our waitress. She did an excellent job. Very attentive with a positive attitude. Friendly girl. She mentioned that she was newer towards the end of our meal. I was surprised to hear that. She already seemed like a veteran. Great service, good food, and a clean inviting atmosphere already has us planning our next visit.

Cafe Zinc

Popular among locals at the farmers market, guests can get a taste of the fresh pastries and bread made by our French Pastry Chef. This modern, 40 seat French bistro is a must experience.

Had our 4th of July dinner here because we were staying in the hotel. All very convenient for the fireworks. We had the pork chop and the Acorn Power Bowl. Both delicious and the Acorn Power Bowl was a larger portion than expected for you vegetarians. The bread was very delicious also especially the darker bread shown in photos.

Heard good things about Lasko's when they first opened so we gave them a shot. Food certainly OK but I have particularly high expectations as I typically only eat a places with many TripAdvisor excellent ratings. Don't know, didn't check Lasko's current TA reviews and we may have hit them at a difficult time in their startup.I always order the two eggs, meat, toast and coffee first time to access their breakfast with this common breakfast to see how they do with the basics. OK but again nothing to move Lasko's to my Midland favorites list.

Food served buffet-style at conference center event on 3-09-18 was terrible. Poorly-cooked chicken, dry steak fries and tasteless fish were served. Mixed veg had no seasoning or flavor. No bread or rolls were provided. I asked for coffee and was told that I would be charged 2.00 over what I had OVERPAID for the meal. I ordered coffee anyway and am 95% certain that what I received was instant, not brewed, coffee. Nothing in this dining experience encourages me to return to any venue at Apple Mountain for future dinner, drinks, or entertainment.

5 business colleagues had dinner here. The loaded nachos were great to share. The french onion soup was big and excellent. The Chicken Asiago was OK. Basically grilled chicken on mac and cheese, but it was tasty. Skillet cookie was very good, the chocolate covered cake thing was average. Good beer and wine and drink selections. Definitely would come back for the service and drinks and not expect as much from the food...not that it was bad, just not 5 star stuff...good bar and grill food.Thank you for the comments. We pride ourselves as a big step above bar and grill food so I hope you do come back and try some other items. Our steaks are amazing, the Florentine Ravioli is a great vegetarian option and we even have a gluten friendly menu. Again your comments are very much appreciated, keeps us on our toes and makes us work harder for the 5th star!

3. The Cortland Cooler Cafe

5395 Midland Rd, Freeland, MI 48623-8702 American

This "cafe" is located at Bayne's Apple Valley Farm, on Midland Rd, in Freeland. I have heard about their great sandwiches and chili for a long time and so, a co-worker and I had lunch here one day, on a Wednesday, at 11:30 AM. I have seen many cars parked outside at the noon lunch hour here, and I thought we'd be in for a bit of a wait. That didn't happen. In fact, only two other people were having lunch here, and that was during our entire 45 minute visit. I didn't try the chili and I sure should have! It smelled great. But we passed, and got a pre-made sandwich from the little frig. I got Egg Salad, as did my co-worker. We were both very disappointed. There was nothing in that Egg Salad but egg and mayo. NO celery, lettuce, onions-nothing. It was tasteless. Worse, it came as a "wrap." A soft tortilla shell, that was so mushy and soft, it blended right into the poor Egg Salad, making a mushy, wet mess. Neither of us finished our sandwich. It comes with a bag of chips and it was $7. The hot cider we both had was very good, as well as the doughnuts. And that is all they sell-4 choices of sandwich (all on wraps) and their chili. Definitely would have to get the chili next time, if there is a next time. I think they may have sold more items for lunch in previous years, due to all the traffic at the place at lunch time. There is a nice array of gifts to purchase in the adjoining store, but many of their items are priced much too high. They have a great array of baked goods-cookies, doughnuts, pies (excellent pies), breads, caramel apples, candy etc. These I also consider too high, but I do purchase these items on a yearly basis. They also sell cold drinks, cider, water. Apples, though this years crop of apples is poor and therefore, there are not a lot of apples to be had. Outside the cafe is a cider mill press, and a small playground for children. Many fall items for sale-pumpkins, hay, etc. Parking is tight on certain weekends, otherwise, a nice large parking lot. Bathrooms clean. Service is friendly in the gift shop, but the attitudes of the cafe workers need to change! On more than one occasion, I have wanted to ask how bad their day has gone...! If going thru Freeland, I do suggest a visit to this long standing apple orchard/cafe business.

2. Subway

I am so glad to see they have built a new, freestanding Subway in Freeland. It is huge compared to their last location and so much nicer. Plenty of space (booths and tables) to move around. Very clean, bright and lots of natural light. A drive-thru, too! Friendly workers, large parking lot, great location.

On a recommendation from a waitress at another restaurant we went for breakfast. Fabulous. Simple eggs aren’t always cooked right but they are at the Riverside, the potatoes were just right. Homemade bread, not one kind but about 6 with homemade jam. What a perfect breakfast. On the way out we peaked in the kitchen, marvellous pies, about a dozen varieties. Ginormous pies. The servers picked up on everything. If the had nothing to do they would bus tables or pour coffee, they kept busy. One of the best breakfast spots I’ve been to , and I’ve been to many! KudosWow did you make our day with that great review. Thanks so much for giving us a try and we are so happy to hear you enjoyed your meal and experieice at Riverside Family Restaurant. Hope we get to see you again!
