I have eaten many pupusas since my arrival in Nicaragua, and 503 has the best in Nicaragua. The prices are affordable. The food is well prepared and it tastes good. Service is excellent and the restaurant is close to Contran Sur. The restaurant is decorated nicely and is a great place to have a pupusa and conversation with friends. The atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable. This is one of my favorite places in Matagalpa. I highly recommend the pupusas here, you won't be disappointed.

I stopped here for lunch and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. After eating at several disappointing restaurants in Matagalpa yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised by Picoteo Cafe. I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time. Service was quick and the burger was delicious. It was prepared differently than in the United States. The meat appeared to have green onions mixed into it and was seasoned perfectly. It was so good! Prices were incredibly reasonable too. I got a cheeseburger, fries, and diet coke for 70 cordobas. What a deal!

Coming from a country with really good bakeries, my cravings for pastries was getting out of control. Then I found Yum Yum! Deliciously fluffy, glazed donuts and a selection of cakes that take you back to Grandma's kitchen. Also, between the hours of 6pm and 7pm they serve hot donuts! I definitely recommend visiting Yum Yum's when in Matagalpa.

Had a light lunch in this lovely small cafe. Mix of tables and cosy chairs and the most unusual concept are the huge numbers of board games available for anyone to try while having a drink or food. We had chicken panini with fries and salad together with two smoothies.Overall a very relaxing experience and as the name implies, a good place to chill for an hour or so.

We loved our visit to this gem of a restaurant in Matagalpa. Easily one if the top places to eat in the city. We visited twice with our children, aged 3 and 5, and both times were wonderful experiences. We sampled a number of dishes and everything was top notch. The owners and their daughters hung out and chatted with us for a bit and they really seem to be great people. If we make it back to Matagalpa we will definitely visit them again. We suggest that you do as well...
