Depot Diner has got it goin’ on! Very good breakfast at a reasonable price. Service was quick and staff was super attentive on our Sunday morning visit, despite being quite busy. They seem very organized and customer service oriented. For example, you can put your name on the waiting list via their website. They had a 30 minute wait the morning we went, but we signed in online before leaving the house and our table was ready within about 5 minutes of arrival (they send you a text when your table is ready). Nice! This diner is clean, staff is friendly, and the food was super good. We loved the Nutella waffles and the corned beef hash omelette. Will definitely go back.

This coffee shop/diner was the best! It had great food, great prices and great service from great servers. The food was home made and delicious. Large portions and this place is very popular with the locals. We ate breakfast there twice in the three days that we were in town. Highly recommend.

Upon arriving, we were yelled at for bringing in outside coffees and told we had to leave the outside. I have never heard of such a thing and it wasn’t like we weren’t going to be buying beverages and food in there. The woman was just not nice about it. She was rude all around. I get it it’s October. I visit Salem often and year round and it wasn’t even that busy. She was rude to everyone sitting at the counter and just kept saying “we’re busy.” Girl, if you can’t handle a busy diner in October, waitressing in Salem is not for you. Everyone there was just not personable. Thankfully the pancakes PUMPKIN were delicious. Unfortunately I will not return. So many places to eat in Salem with happy hosts! Sorry to hear you had a less than stellar experience with our staff, Jamie! I will say that the prohibition of any outside food or beverages is a legal stipulation of our beer and wine license issued by the city, it's just not some arbitrary policy we have at the restaurant with the hopes of stuffing a few more bucks into our pocket. I honestly don't even think I would care that much if people could bring their own beverages in, I would just feel bad if they're missing out on the awesome drinks we offer. So I am sorry if someone on our staff seemed short with you, but she was just looking our for the restaurants best interests and as you said, it is October, and I'm sure it was busy - everyone wants to walk around town with a warm cider or pumpkin coffee this time of year, ya know? I'm definitely not saying you were rude to her, either, I did not see the interaction. However, I will say that we have the most wonderfully introverted group of servers I've ever worked alongside during my sixteen years in the restaurant industry and If one of them ever "yelled at" anyone, I would pay good money to see it. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you at least enjoyed the food, we make everything with love. I DO hope you decide to change your mind and give us another chance in the future, however! We would love to win you over!

The Cityside is a small place on Cabot street in the heart of Beverly that is very popular with locals and quite good for lunch or breakfast. As you walk in there will most likely be a wait, but things move fairly quickly here. We have been here for breakfast many times and the service is generally good and the food is above average for the price. Speaking of price, breakfast for two can easily cost less than $18.We have had the French toast, omelets, and scrambled eggs and everything as nicely prepared and tasty. If you are looking for high end or gourmet coffee you may be disappointed as the coffee aveage at best. Service has been consistently friendly and usually quick, except when its a full house. Although we have only had lunch here once, the food and service was similar to breakfast.Highly recommended if you are looking for a casual place in Beverly.
