Oprah Winfrey named Pappas Crabcakes as one of her #FavoriteThings2015.Pappas built its reputation on chunky with lump crab, filler-light, and only lightly spiced with crab seasoning, allowing for the full expression of crabby flavor. I ordered the snack plate â 2 fried blue crab balls, old bay seasoning French fries, coleslaw, tomato, lemon, choice of sauce. Sadly the jumbo lumps here at the MGM National Harbor tasted as if theyâd spent more time in a freezer than in the Chesapeake Bay.Obviously Oprah didnât eat at the Pappas outpost here. Excellent service, bright and modern ambiance, easy to find near MGM casino. We could not decide among all the interesting choices, so we did the tasting menu for $75 each. Little did we realize that we would have over a dozen imaginative tapas--whole fish, shrimp and grits, vermicelli and cheese, oysters, clams, friend conch balls, etc. Each one was delicious. It ended with a palate cleansing and decorative dessert. You can also add wine for $45 per person. They also sold Chef Jose's books, so we bought several. Chef Jose, by the way, has lead the disaster relief in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas after disasters--so I was glad to subsidize his restaurant.

Went in August with my wife. We were looking for a good Seafood restaurant and the concierge at the MGM resort recommended this place. What a great choice. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the harbor. Great views. I had the grilled salmon special. The fish was a nice large portion and was tasty and juicy. The mango glaze was terrific . My wife had the seared scallops and couldn't be happier. We shared a shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were delicious. We also had a cup of the shecrab soup. It was terrific. Our server Tremecia was a great waiter. He was attentive and friendly. The manager stopped by to see if we enjoyed our meals and to chat. This was a great meal in a great atmosphere and we will definitely be back on our next trip.

If the title does not make sense, it will. There is a huge marshmellow Peep's store across the street, but the restaurant looks out over artwork, boats, and the Potomac. Excellent service from Amontae.The rockfish was seared and crispy and the mushroom risotto was more buttery than savory which was delightful. We took home the bread for later and it was fabulous!

We had drinks here one night with some new friends we met. Returned the next Saturday for lunch but it was closed for a wedding. I guess thatâs an East Coast way to have wedding receptions to rent an entire restaurant. Unfortunately we ate at their competitors across from them. Glad I live in Texas where nice restaurants have party rooms.

Weâve been to Hankâs before when visiting Old Town it was great then and it didnât disappoint this time. Went with our son and a friend. We split the large Seafood Tower which was loaded with oysters, clams, ceviche, shrimp, mussels and lobster. It was as fresh as could be. Hankâs will be on our list the next time we are in town

So I live in DC, but have a son in DC and a brother in Alexandria. My brother, who knows All the best places to go in his adopted home town, took me to Volaâs, and since my first visit it has become a staple on my DC itinerary. I love it for lunch...sitting outside with oldies music playing. We start with oysters...one of each...and Sangria. For lunch, anything on the menu is great! The service is friendly and professional. Joyous...that is the best way to describe the experience!Thanks so much for the kind words, Lois! Guided by Tripadvisor reviews, I picked this place for our lunch in Old Town Alexandria. It did not disappoint. Cheerful Amaris took good care of us from the start.After toasts of a fresh Prosecco, we dug into various forms of crab cakes. Mine was a crab cake Benedict. A very filling portion! I picked green beans as the side order and got more than I could possible eat. They were perfectly prepared and spiced.Few around the table had any room for dessert, but I can recommend splitting an orange creme brulee if you have any appetite left at all.

Grabbed a quick drink and some apps on our way to Top Golf during happy hour. The oysters were $1.50 each and the oyster rockefellers were only $2 each. They were delicious!!! We kept ordering more of the baked oysters. The dungenous crab was not our favorite. Not anything like blue crabs or Alaskan Snow Crabs. Bartenders were friendly and attentive.
