Feeling pampered

Reviewed By travelinda20

Had a wonderful experience at The Cliff House. We were given an upgraded room when we arrived, which is always a pleasant surprise. All staff members were helpful, cheerful, and friendly. Loved staying in a hotel with such a long history of gracious hospitality. Spend a little time looking at the old photos and reading about the hotel, it's fascinating. Loved sitting out on the front porch and having a drink or two. Actually ate small bites and sandwiches there one afternoon, and had the best smoked turkey sandwich we have ever eaten. So, we made reservations the next night to eat in the dining room. This was excellent as well, and the sommelier was so knowledgeable and helpful in choosing a fantastic white wine. Fantastic. We hadn't planned to eat anywhere fancy during this trip, and so did not pack more than a nice pair of jeans, but we were made aware that would not be a concern. So happy we made this decision!

HUGE value for the money! GREAT PLACE!

Reviewed By wadeg502

I just checked out of this place and wanted to pause and leave a quick review. First, the place is immaculately clean. Second, the breakfast is very good and adds a lot of value. The internet service is great, and we took advantage of the business center and the pool/hotub. Everything was in great working order! I will stay here again the next time we come to the Springs. Finally, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the location rocks. If I were to make one small suggestion, it would be to use commercial grade shampoo/bodywash/conditioner dispensers rather than the residential grade ones that I saw here. Why? Anyone can open these and put something into them. No to be paranoid, but there are some freaky people in the world. If I am going to use a dispenser like this, I prefer it has a locking mechanism so it can't be opened by a guest. That is how the commercial ones are designed. I guess these were chealer, and I get that but... On the whole, this is place is an incredible value. We will come back!

I took my grandson to Manitou Springs for a special trip but we only had 3 days. It was the perfect place to go for a short trip. So much to do and see within a few miles of the town. Garden of the Gods , Pike’s Peak cog train and Cave of the Winds did not disappoint. We enjoyed it all. My Grandson especially loved the Wind Walker Challenge Course. Great area to visit.

Don't get a room on the ground floor

Reviewed By Philippa M

This hotel is under new management & the staff are very keen to make a good impression. They were friendly & helpful. The room was large & clean. However, there were a few issues. The old "apparently sticky" carpets have been removed, leaving bare hard floors in all the rooms. The people who checked in to the room above us obviously thought it would be fun to play "suitcase bowls" for many hours throughout the night. In the end we had to run the air con unit on constant fan to block out the noise & get some sleep. The area outside the hotel is pretty run down.

Good over night stay.

We have had better stays at this motel. The family that had it before must have sold it. Our room was pretty clean carpet needed to be steamed cleaned and needs new tile around baseboards. Bed was lumpy not comfy. No water pressure. We stayed here 2 nights . Our 1 night stay our next door neighbors we very loud and since the walls are paper thin. We felt like we were sharing a room with them. Could wait for them to pass out and go to sleep. 2nd. night again next door neighbors were loud. I opened my door and there was a guy lying on the ground. I closed door and a few minutes later someone was pounding on our door. Called front desk . He came over and talked to them. They were fairly quiet the rest of the night. This motel was once a nice quiet place to stay. Hope management make changes.

The motel looks the same as it might have been in the 1960's. The room was nice and large, but dark and uninviting. I usually like old motels, but this one just turned me off. It is a convenient location.

Great little motel

Reviewed By Live_to_travel56

The manager of the Eagle Motel was very friendly. We were assigned to Room 100, and it was very spacious! I don’t know if the other rooms were as roomy but this one was much larger than the average king sized room. It was spotlessly clean and the room was recently updated even though overall the outside of the motel harkened back to an earlier era. The bed was VERY comfortable with nice linens. The towels were thick and fluffy and the shower clean and roomy. We did not find the lack of a bath tub to be a problem. They offered a grab and go breakfast that we didn’t try but seemed pretty basic. Everyone was really nice and I would definitely stay here again.

Old and Shows Its Age

Reviewed By WadeFromOklahoma

My girlfriend and I stayed here in September, 2020. When I made my reservation, my mom told me that it sounded like the same motel she and Dad had stayed at in 1958 during a trip there. After I showed her pictures of the motel, she confirmed that it was. "It wasn't very fancy, was it?" she asked. No, Mom, it's not. When you stay on the bottom floor (in the back of the motel, facing the stream - which is the best part of the whole property), you'll hear EVERY. SINGLE. FOOTSTEP. that your neighbors above you take. The ceiling - their floor - is thin. Very thin. Mighty thin. But not as thin as the walls. Oh, no. The walls are thin, and when your neighbor decides to play his radio at 3:00am, you will hear EVERY. SINGLE. DRUMBEAT. AND. EVERY. SINGLE. BASS LINE. So, if you decide to recover from your sleep deprived night with a wonderful hot shower, guess what - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA there's NO hot water, and VERY LITTLE water pressure! And, if you're female, and you decide to go up to the parking lot to make a call because the reception in your room is not great, and the owner of the motel yells at you asking you who you are and which room you're staying in - THAT is a real knee slapper, I tell ya!! We stayed two nights. We had pre-paid for our room. When we decided to stay a third night in the Springs area, we stayed in a hotel north of town. It's tempting to catch their specials on websites such as this because their prices are below average. But, your experience will also be below average. Take your chances, if you dare.
