The campsite is equipped with a swimming pool heated to a restaurant, a pizzeria. La Truffière also offers rentals of chalets for 4 to 6 persons

Perfect for St Cirq La Poppie

Stayed on this site in our motorhome and found it to be a great stop with friendly, helpful staff. English is spoken by some but not all. Unlike a lot of UK sites pitches aren't arranged in regimented rows and you more or less find a big enough space between the trees that suits and park up. There's plenty of shade to keep out of the hot summer sun which was an important consideration! Facilities were fine and there is a washing machine and tumble dryer available for a few Euros. They stock a few essentials for sale at reception, if you've forgotten/run out of something. There's a very good site bar/restaurant where the pizza's were fantastic. There is free wifi available in/near the restaurant. If you're in a motorhome the big draw is the free shuttle service to nearby St Cirq La Poppie. Whilst it is no doubt possible to get a motorhome in the village (after all the coaches manage it!), it's a whole lot easier to let someone else take you there! Would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Good base for day trips

We stayed a week in this park with family members that stayed in another chalet. First thing to note is that we had booked a 6-person chalet, which appeared completely the same as the 4 person chalet that my relatives were staying in. The park itself is quiet and there is not much going on at the park itself. For someone looking to spend a lot of time at the park, that may turn out disappointing. The chalets themselves are well equipped and relatively new, though they have little luxury. Like many self catering places the inventory lacks useful items like scissors, kettle and wine glasses. There is only wifi at the reception building and to get a decent signal you need to loiter close to the reception door. There is a facility to order bread for the next day that can be collected in the morning. On a warm day the swimming pool lacks sufficient chairs or sunbeds. Check-in is only between 4-6pm. Check out strictly before 10am at a pre-agreed 10 minute time slot. I would say that this park is pleasant for making day trips and not spending much time on. There are lots of interesting places to visit within a 1 hour drive radius. Opinions on the friendliness of reception staff seem to vary, but we had no problems and thought they were friendly and helpful.

June 4014 we have just arrived back after 3wks on this great site .We had a super lively spaniel with us and the site was perfect .You can walk straight out into the oak forest and be gone for hours along the track & roads. The river is ten minutes walk away which the the dog loved. The campsite was kept clean and tidy at all times the sanitary block was spotless and a place where you could enjoy a good HOT!!! shower yes I did say hot. Both the owners Christophe & Marie where more than willing to help with advice about the area and all the other staff never failed to greet you in a warm and friendly way. Hope you enjoy this site as much as we did Geoff/Denise & Archie

friendly owners

Reviewed By jonsiberia

We stayed in one of the mobile homes. we parked our motor outside where they were quite safe. unfortunately please note the swimming pool is only open to the local school kids in the early summer. I had a paddle in the river which was very refreshing. The owner has a little cafe where we had a few beers and a burger. He was even kind enough to offer us a free round of beers and was friendly and chatty, helping us to improve our terrible French. The local town is very near with a weds market and a small friendly local bar.

Well organised, clean and family oriented campsite

Reviewed By eve629

Stayed for more than 2 weeks with my husband and 1 year old, and enjoyed it a lot!! Very clean, well organised camp site, with nice owners and decently priced. In close proximity to many touristic attractions, but at the same time located very rural and quiet, away from large roads. Loved to be able to swim, even on days when weather was a bit less (thanks to the pool cover and heating). Good size terrains, ours also had a lot of shade in the afternoon. Some camping places are far a bit far from the sanitary block and playground, but on the otherhand they are also more quiet in the evening. After 11 pm the campsite was mostly quiet, which is great with smaller children. Downside: our terrain was not completely flat, which is a bit difficult to compensate in a tent. Personal tip: include a broader range of good cocktails / mocktails in the bar?
