Dinner with the children. This is a place that seems to cater for families as there were a number there. Specialises in mussels but does various other things.Service fast and friendly. Good size portions of food, little bit pricey but OK. Tasted good and the children's meals were also good.

There is so much you can say about this place but you have to be there to experience it... the people make the place what it is, the food is a reflection of the nice people who own and run the place.... You need to be there and try it out... have it all but don't forget the homemade mayo and fries ...

La taverne du petit Wasquehal

This bar/restaurant has provided fairly consistent good service and pleasant food/drink over the years it’s been visited. This trip was no exception. It is relatively easy to find on foot from Les Prés métro station [a short ride from Lille Gare de Flanders], particularly as the access, paths, road and lighting around this once dingy trading estate area have all been improved Yes there have been changes [new management?] like the beer giraffe measures are no longer advertised/available. Similarly, while the number of beers provided on pression [draught] has apparently increased the [advertised] bottled beer selection has seemingly reduced. The restaurant menu is much the same and the food is always very good. Perhaps the service could do with a bit of polish from time to time but on this occasion it was again very good. The restaurant was empty on arrival and I was shown efficiently to a table, but it soon became fairly full as I ate the main course. The order was taken promptly [extra time was needed to examine the menu]. The main meal chosen this time was the lamb chops with chips and green veg [runner beans] accompanied by a large [75 cl] bottle of 3 Monts. This seemed the only large [75 cl] bottle of local bottle beer available. Last time La Chouffe was available in this size too [although it is apparently provided on draught]. The lamb meat was tender but a bit pink in parts despite asking for it “bien cuit”. Perhaps “très bien cuit” should be requested next time. The desert was a warmed individual rhubarb crumble portion, which was pleasant too, finished off by “Un grand crème”. Très bon...
