Spring time in the Alps at this little gem of a place

Reviewed By leannet263

Came for the Easter weekend, most places in our budget range were fullty booked. So this hostel popped up but I had my reservations being an older couple who have had our fair share of hostels. Anyway...we booked, we liked it and we highly recommend it. Cosy bar / restaurant with nice views, mixture of different types of people. Nice but basic rooms (it's a hostel). Friendly staff with a chilled singer some nights. Good cleaning standards. My only complaint would be the shower. It was basically a shower head and no holder. Great if you like in sat down showers.

The Perfect Ski Hotel

Reviewed By Dave123abc

Far and away the best ski hotel I’ve stayed in; having woken up the second morning and checked I wasn’t dreaming, we booked for next year :-) Worth noting that the hotel was completely refurbished and changed owners in 2020, so reviews before then don’t reflect the current business. *Fantastic friendly, helpful staff. Despite it being the last week of the season and very busy, they were cheery and helpful at all times. * Location right on the edge of the ski run - 20m from boot room to slope and vice versa. A one minute ski down an easy green to croisettes for ski school meeting point. * Great indoor/outdoor pool, and spa facilities. * Well decorated rooms, with good facilities including Nespresso machines and decent TV set, as well as fluffy bathrobes and slippers. * A good amount of communal space - a lounge, library and games room. Although the rooms are relatively compact, the communal space more than compensated. * Proper buffet breakfast, with plenty of hot options as well as fruit, cold meat, pastries. Not just continental! * Dinner buffet with a chocolate fountain - kept the kids very happy. * Free hot chocolate and pastries during the day. * Boot dryers in the ski lockers. * Shower and changing room for anyone who wants to ski on first/last day. All the staff were absolutely wonderful - replacing lost ski locker keys, providing spare bathrobes, recommendations for local restaurants, advice on getting a pizza delivered when the kids were hungry after a day of skiing - nothing was too much trouble. Room tips: The duplex rooms have a separate upstairs room with the single kids beds in, but although it’s upstairs, there’s no separating door so there is some noise transmission between the downstairs and upstairs rooms. Slight downside of the duplex rooms is there’s only space for 3 pairs of boots in the ski locker, but there is a separate communal drying rack you can also use. The communicating rooms have one locking door into a small hallway, then two (individually locking) rooms off that, it’s a bit nicer than the usual hotel setup of “two rooms with a door in the wall between them”, tho all the communicating rooms are on the side of the hotel with a (relatively) poorer view. They are slightly separate from the other rooms, and relatively quiet. Standard family rooms have a couple of bunks for the kids, with curtains across each bunk. Rooms on the front (south) of the hotel have the best view, followed by those on the east side, then those on the west.

Le Menuire Chalet Hotel & Spa

We’re excited to have Hotel Le Menuire & Spa join the Neilson Mountain Collection and it’s set to be our finest hotel. The clue is in the name; you’ll find it in the world-renowned 600km Three Valleys ski area and the wonderful spa has an impressive adventure pool, hot tub and sauna for some après relaxation. It’s a luxurious place to stay, but in a laid-back, unfussy way. The mountain style and warm colour tones make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. You’re surrounded by far-reaching views of the Three Valleys peaks and the sunsets are not to be missed.

Good ski hotel

Reviewed By Edward1951S

Les Menuires is not one of the liveliest places in Les Trois Vallees and all the better for that I say. It is considerably cheaper than and not as pretty as its swanky neighbours Courchevel and Meribel but it provides great access to all the valleys if you have a ski pass for the whole area. And Saint-Martin-de-Belleville further down the valley is a lovely alpine village. So the Le Menuire Chalet Hotel and Spa provides an excellent base. Let's not pretend it is ski in/ski out. It may just achieve this after a heavy snow fall but when we visited in March it was well below the snow line. In consequence, the muddy path from the boot room round to the front of the hotel is something of a let down and could do with some attention. But there is a free bus service every 20 minutes from outside the hotel to the Croisette from where one can head in any direction on skis. I cannot agree with Lee W about the lack of boot driers - there are plenty to go around now. Perhaps they have installed some more. However, the boot room could do with some attention - it does not match the quality of the rest of the hotel. Having got the negatives out of the way let's give praise where it is due. Members of staff without exception are amazing. Friendly, helpful and with a can't do enough for you attitude. Rooms are a good size for a ski hotel with comfortable beds and quality toiletries. The pool/spa area is fantastic. Breakfast is a buffet affair with plenty of choice and dinners are wholesome. There is always a vegetarian option and gluten and lactose intolerances are catered for. I suppose the ultimate test for a hotel is the question 'Would you go back?' and my answer would be an unreserved 'Yes'.

Nickel & diming and jaded at every turn

Reviewed By MidtownSurryHills

We went for a short Easter break at this hotel, and really wanted to like it. For the price, it certainly was different to expectations. When questioning a €38 charge for two bowls of yoghurt and 4 croissants for a child who recently turned 14, the reception person diligently printed out their terms and conditions to ensure they were able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that they were in the right to charge the "additional adult" breakfast for our child. Also, be careful about using the kitchen facilities that are right there in your room. There is a small sign in the kitchen which indicates you will be charged an additional €45-65 lest you taint their kitchen. My wife ensured that there was not a trace of 'use' by doing their housekeeping's job by taking out our rubbish and getting tissues to wipe down the sink of any water from when we rinsed our hands. After our experience to that point, we didn't want to risk it. Let's not forget the email received on the day of arrival to indicate that the restaurant is only going to open for the first night of the stay, and then closed after that. No indication on the website when booking, just a last minute gotcha after the full price of the stay had been charged. The hotel is a long way from the town's main restaurants (20-30 min walk), so you might want to check the facilities will be open when you arrive. Lastly, the overall feel for the hotel staff was that of being jaded and tired of dealing with tourists. We'd just come from an awesome stay in Italy, and the difference was stark. Overall, it is a lovely hotel, with ski in /ski out access, but we were let down on a number of fronts.

Avoid - not worth the money

I do not recommend staying here. The pictures online are very different to the reality of the chalet. The chalet was not very clean, there was hair in the shower when we arrived. Wifi is terrible it may as well not exist. It is also extremely noisy, you can hear everything from the chalet upstairs. They most concerning part is that they rely on guests to clean the kitchen for the next guests, so it appears it is not professionally cleaned between each stay. Very worrying especially in current circumstances. For about £2000 do not stay here.

The apartment for 6 ppl only has 1 toilet which is completely unacceptable. The shower room had a broken handle and a light out, this was reported on the first day but was not rectified. The dishwasher was broken which was reported and was attempted to be fixed but wasn't really satisfactory. The apartment is a fine size but the lack of a second toilet and broken amenities means it really wasn't worth the money paid. Spa was fine but no one was ever there so I have no idea of you could get a massage or not.

The locker room was awful! Only a locker door width space to walk down, so if someone opened their locker door nobody could get passed! No love or attention went into the food and was of less quality than a motorway service station! On occasions we would stand for 15 minutes + for some food to come out (e.g. burger) only for 4 to come out! These would then be reheated again for the next two days! Wine was from a dispenser! We were in France for goodness sake! The one Savoyard speciality meal comprised of ‘Antonio’ standing behind one of the tables melting some cheese! Not the normal Savoyard experience we have come to love! The staff were not accommodating and we were made to feel like the smallest request was an inconvenience. In fact, by the end of the holiday it did feel like we were encroaching on THEIR holiday, as they would congregate on the terrace drinking in the late afternoon. The bar would be closed at different times on different days, from 10:30 to 9:00 on one night, only to be ‘opened’ up again for the staff 5 minutes later! Husband asked about breakfast before our early start the next day, the receptionist assured us they were used to this and to knock and they would sort something out for us. We were greeted by a young woman who asked us rather aggressively what we were doing in the restaurant! We explained, with no apology, she stormed off! Having missed two years of skiing because of Covid, we were really looking forward to this holiday. Very disappointed!

LOCATION. Beautiful views from the hotel and just outside the hotel the Doron lift passes. In the morning, you ski directly from the hotel down to the ROC1 lift or take the lift on the other side of the valley to Point de la Masse. Going to Meribel or Val Thorens is just two lifts away from the hotel! HOTEL AND SERVICE. The one thing that really stands out is the superb service level and friendlyness of all the people working at the hotel in all areas. This was consistent throughout the week and is something out of the ordinary. Rooms and all areas of the hotel was nice and clean. FOOD AND DRINKS. We had dinner at the hotel every night (a la carte) and tried many of the dishes. Very high level on the food and the entire family was very pleased. The same goes with the bar which had a very high level on making us drinks. Least but not not last, breakfast was also really good with for instance a variety of fruits, yoghurts, croissants, toasts, baguettes, cheese and hams, great coffee and scambled eggs, sausages and bacon.
