Nice place by the lake

Skylark has been part of Lakeport forever, well, at least as long as I can remember (family moved to Kelseyville in '73). However, they have redone and updated the place, and while you can still tell it is old, they work very hard at keeping it clean. It is quiet, unless you are near main street, then the cars can get loud, but not terribly. A good price, and a nice place to stay, I would stay there again.

Reviewed By geordieB823Once was probably a high class hotel but badly in need of a make over. Restaurant closed. No breakfast option. The few staff we met were friendly and efficient but that was countered by dirty rooms and lack of amentites.

Reviewed By sue wIt makes me sad. I hate to leave a bad review. I know these people work hard.....but......this is very overpriced and not worth it. 1. The area around the building is filled with junk. 2. The TV screen went black every couple of minutes . 3. There were drops of what looked like blood on the rug by the sink. 4. A creepy guy staying here wanted a new friend..me. On the bright side, it is a great location and they allow dogs for a fee.

Quiet stay in the woods
Reviewed By Heidi KStayed at Greta's cabin for three nights. It was spacious and has a small fridge and microwave. You can have lunch or dinner outside on the private porch and just relax and listen to the sounds of the birds and just the nature. The place comes with a shower and a comfortable bed. The heater was also great for colder nights. The cabin has an older charm to it. Greta was helpful and responsive and has a maintained property. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and just enjoy peace and quiet then this place is for you. There is not much around so you will need to depend on a car to get to and from places. Thank you for the hospitality.

Northern pygmy owl spotted
Reviewed By OWLSRcuteThe owl was spotted at lunch time near Cache Creek along the Rosebud Trail. That's the good news. As for the motel, my request for a king bed, upstairs floor and a quiet room was ignored. I was placed in room 101. This room had the ice machine, washing machine and supply closet on one side. Outside my room was the murky green swimming pool. I thought that I would be spared pool noises. But I wasn't because the pool maintenance guy was working on the pool, trying to get it back for public use. The renovations that were done at the lodge have not been completed. Workmen are still there. For example, room signs had blue painter's tape. My room still needed painting. I was okay that there were two beds in the room, but I was not okay with the amount of noise. My upstairs and next door neighbors were a tree crew consisting of at least six guys and four trucks from Loggers Unlimited. The guys got up at 5 AM and were out on the road at 6:30 AM. When they returned, they congregated outside the pool, only a couple doors from my room, and spent the time together until 8 AM, laughing, talking and smoking. That was understandable because they couldn't gather in the indoor lobby. But I did not have a quiet room. During the afternoon, the housekeeping cart rolled back and forth passed my room. I booked my room two weeks before my stay. I have given the motel a chance to explain and they have not. Also, the microwave oven keypad was defective, the turntable did not rotate, and the toilet leaked water. At check in, I asked again for a quiet room. I was told that no one was in the room above mine. But above room 101 is room 202. Room 201 might have been empty, but not room 202.

Reviewed By Cathy LNot what we expected from their ads. Very old property in need of some serious updating. While I would not call the room dirty, the shower could have used a good old fashion cleaning. Way too much smoking allowed without a good ventilation system.

Run Down Roadside Property

While the cabin was a good size, it's poorly maintained (not housekeeping), there's no outside seating with a view of the lake and the cabins are 25 feet from the road so there's lots of traffic noise. Other rooms seem really basic and about 50 feet from the road. Maybe it had a "resort" feel years ago, but the property is worn out now.

Americas Best value Inn & Suites is located at the west end of the City of Clearlake. We are a lakefront location with a private fishing pier. We are close to dining, wineries, Casinos,Golf Courses, State Parks and we have lake recreation on site. We are about an hour and a half from Calistoga and Napa Valley, 2 1/2 hours from San Francisco and Sacramento.

Traveling between I-5 and Highway 101. I don't think you would be disappointed to stay here for the night. I enjoyed our day/night in Clearlake at the "America's Best Value Inn". Perfect for our needs! Perfectly Average. Thank you.

Reviewed By Vijay1234567890Yes, this is a very basic hotel, but the location was great. The hotel has a private mini pier that was great for relaxing and having a drink after a long drive. I would just hope that the owners put some work into this place to truly realize it's potential.

Low budget for the area, but disappointing
Reviewed By terrihSonomaThere are two positive features of this motel: good bed and good shower. Everything else disappointed. Walls seemed dirty, makeshift door to the bathroom, no closet or dresser to hold clothes, very loud guests disturbing peace.
